#1: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: clarky78, Location: NottinghamshirePosted: Sat May 14, 2011 11:36 am ---- When the car is cold, and less so when warm, the car is very lumpy when driving slowly. If you drive along at a slow speed, the car jerks constantly but only gently, like someone just very slightly pressing on and off the throttle. What could it be?
#2: Re: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: NorthantsBen, Location: Raunds, NorthamptonshirePosted: Sat May 14, 2011 11:47 am ---- when was its last service?
#3: Re: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: Barking, Location: sarcasm-in-shedloadsPosted: Sat May 14, 2011 11:52 am ---- aren't you getting rid of it anyway?
#4: Re: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: clarky78, Location: NottinghamshirePosted: Sun May 15, 2011 4:08 am ---- Last serviced before christmas. But it's been like it for ages.
Yes, I'm selling it, but I like to have things as right as possible before buying. I also have an airbag ligth which I want fixed. God knows how that much will cost!

See my 206 GTi thread in my sig, there is a lot of info on the airbag fault in there.
As for the judder, could it just be the infamous 180 flywheel/clutch judder?
#7: Re: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: leigh_boy, Location: EastbournePosted: Tue May 17, 2011 9:22 am ---- coil pack and plugs had same problem but was not enough to set off engine mangment light
#8: Re: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: bisphenol-a, Location: AntarcticaPosted: Tue May 17, 2011 5:50 pm ---- damn.
i dont know how to describe my problem. but its quite the same in the sense that every morning, the car just feels different when taking off and changing gears. give it 10 mins it is all good.
maybe im a bad driver that i need 'warming up'
#9: Re: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: Bill_G, Location: KentPosted: Tue May 17, 2011 6:31 pm ---- air bag light is usually a connection under the front seats, mine comes on everytime i fold the seats forward. as for the judder, meker sure plugs are gapped and clean.
#10: Re: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: clarky78, Location: NottinghamshirePosted: Thu May 19, 2011 8:01 am ---- I did check the seats very quickly, but they seemed fine. They are pain in the ass clips to undo to remove the seats so not sure how they could come loose on theyre own?! I don't have a gap checker tool thing for plugs, but it has been redex'd a few times and though it solved other problems this is still persistant.
#11: Re: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: leigh_boy, Location: EastbournePosted: Thu May 19, 2011 9:53 am ---- red ex is bad id change the plugs at a min
#12: Re: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: clarky78, Location: NottinghamshirePosted: Fri May 20, 2011 2:55 am ---- people insist redex is bad, but it has solved many issues for me on many cars. I can't understand why people insist that it is bad!
#13: Re: Lumpy/Jerky when cold Author: MrZiggerz, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Fri May 20, 2011 3:56 am ---- Its a good fix. Bad long term use.
