I have to say I dont think I got 6 litres of coolant when I drained it more like 4 - 5 litres.

I seem to have only put about 3 litres in.

That's because you only actually drain the water in the head and radiator. You don't drain most of the water in the engine block as it's below the drain points.

Take the thermostat out, when its out flush the system out to get rid of all the s***ty water. re-fit thermostat n hoses, fill system and bleed. Easy peasy

Thermostat is above the water level in the block!

I think there is a core plug at the back of the engine but I wouldn't remove it. Just flush the system with fresh water through the reservoir.

Yeah, but if you dont take the thermostat out the block wont get flushed out and you'll end up with a mix of old and new coolant, which sort of defeats the object of replacing the coolant in the first place !!!

Can someone point me to the thermostat housing bleed point on my 1.4 v8.
I've marked the one i found but it is taking forever and doesn't seem to work only using the one bleed.

Never heard of a thermostat bleed point. The only bleed point on my 1.4 is the one at the back of the engine bay on the heating pipework. It may take a while to properly bleed the whole system but it will bleed eventually, trust me, it took me 3 attempts to get all the air out and stablise the water level.

My bad, I've found the thermostat housing I meant where do I find the heater matrix one? Which I think is the one you're talking about.

Its at the back of the engine bay, roughly in the middle and on a hose. It looks like a wheel dust cap. Have a look at the first pic at the beginning of this thread, its a perfect pic of the bleed point !!!
