#1: WTH seriously... Author: karimali831, Location: EnglandPosted: Tue May 17, 2011 3:57 pm ---- Only today, why why is it doing this to me?
1) Stereo working, turn off engine, returned to car, engine on, stereo won't come on.
2) Got it checked out, fuse blew up somehow (under dashboard), got new fuse.
3) Connected fuse, stereo works, parked car, turned off engine, return, the battery no longer illuminates, stereo don't work, fuse blew up again.
4) went to garage charged £30 for new wiring and new fuse where bonnet is. (they laughed about me having a small fuse for 1000 watt subwoofer, apparently I should of burnt away with the car)
5) anyway I drive home, all good. Returned to car, stero settings do not save (once again), swapped red and yellow wire as mentioned BEFORE and the CD player will NEVER come on if I swap them. it must be red and red and yellow and yellow for cd player to come on but settings DO NOT save.
what is strange is in its present state, when I turn on the battery the stereo will come on only sometimes. WHAT IS GOING ON! I'm soo annoyed.

They said it was completely wrong so they changed it all, not sure what does what now but I know the black wire is connected to the amp. If I change it back to the how it was in the image it won't work it will only work with the red wire in as shown:
Never had problems with this before.. why would the stero only "sometimes" come on?
#6: Re: WTH seriously... Author: roberto.f, Location: Coventry/ManchesterPosted: Tue May 17, 2011 5:27 pm ---- I can't work out why the blue wire is connected to the 12v ignition feed. Your blue wire is the power antenna wire, that should go directly into the headunit via the connector.
It's difficult for me to work it out, but the fact that it won't turn on is probably something to do with the amp feed, ignition feed and antenna feed all connected. Most likely the reason your fuse keeps going.
I'm sure someone else will jump in with more helpful advice.

Take your amp remote on feed from the correct wire (think it's light blue). Make sure the right amp fuse is in. If the power settings are not saved, switch the red and yellow.

I've never seen that done before and my wiring in the 206 currently is a bit weird!

If the black wire leads to the amp, and the blue wire is the remote wire, just cut the red wire (circled) and eleccy tape it up. It should work like that, but i would wire it again properly.

It'd obviously had an aftermarket stereo in at some point (had a quick release wiring block in the boot for an amp, and custom door builds up front), but the standard Pug CD player up front.
The standard CD player had a mind of its own. It only worked with the engine running, and the battery charging light was illuminating dimly on the dashboard. I went through all the fuses, and found a 10A one to be missing (next to the stereo fuse - though the fuse number I forget off the top of my head).
I replaced this, which knocked out the battery charging light, but now my stereo was losing its memory. Very annoying having to enter a code and search for a station every time I started the car, so ripped the stereo out to see what was happening (and fit my own Alpine unit).
What a mess. Considering how well the rest of the ICE was fitted, I cant believe what a state the wiring was behind there. Wires twisted round other wires, blue amp wire poked in the LIVE hole on the connector block! I just ripped the lot out, worked from the Pug ISO connector with a circuit tester to see what was what and rewired from there. I've fitted the blue amp wire to the correct signal wire out the back of the stereo, and all seems tickedy boo. I might try and get a guide up - still got the back end speakers to wire up so its all gotta come out again!

The above link shows where the wirs should be on an ISO block...and your are nothing like it....they seem to all be in reverse....though the numbering is correct!?
From what I can see, i'd say -
Blue/White from stereo - Black Amp Lead
Yellow from stereo - Number 7 on ISO block
Red from stereo - Number 4 on ISO block
Black from stereo - Number 8 on ISO block
Orange from stereo - Number 6 on ISO block.
