Author: furryhobnob, Location: NuneatonPosted: Mon May 23, 2011 12:07 am ---- Hi guys probably the stupidest question ever but wondered if someone can enlighten me, I read that people don't bother ringing their insurance when going on track at fcs, surely the organisers won't let people on the track without it?! What if there's an accident with 2 cars etc, any reply from anyone who has previously been on track there would be grateful

Heck even someone named "skyinsurance" is a user on this forum and he works for the insurance company so im sure there's others around but the probability of being caught is low but its at the risk of the owner.Personally I wouldnt bother with track insurance. At the end of the day 99% of the others on track wont have it so will want to be careful with their cars too. I see your point though, can be risky indeed!

It isn't compulsory to have insurance on track. Which is why they get you to sign an indemnity. I've never had track insurance, and doubt I ever will. If you do get insurance, you'll only get 3rd party insurance so any damage to your car will be payable by you. If you hurt / injure others, then the tracks public liability etc covers that.
You go out on track at your own risk.

Imo, if you go out without insurance, you're a t**t. You can't just guess how good other people may be, they will do stupid things, and actually, in my experience, people at FCS at the WORST drivers I have ever seen on track.
It's all up to you. If you just owned a s***ty banged up can and just went out for shits and giggles then fine. But I wouldn't go out without insurance on anything worth more than like £4k.
Example: A friend of mine was at rockingham (surprise!), when the car in front lost control, something flew off it, into his, caught underneath, he went into a spin and hit the sidewall and wrote off the whole front end (the car in front ground to a halt and was fine). In short, there was absolutely nothing he could have done to prevent that at all. He's 45 and has been racing for god knows how long, sometimes there are just situations where your ego won't be enough to cope with it. He had insurance, he got a £9k payout for it. He was able to get back in another car and start tracking again within 2 months.
It's the same concept as driving with undeclared mods - if you can't afford the premium, don't fecking do it, pikeys!

What the hell was dislodged? The Engine? I quite like Rockingham, its an easy track and there's no need to tail anyone on it really.
Alternatively, have a second car as a runaround and take your track car to the track, so if it does get bent (like Seb) you can enjoy repairing it at your leisure

I think I'm definitely swaying towards selling now because all it takes is 1 silly driver and bang no car, gutting really as I was looking forward to it
