#1: Quick question Author: furryhobnob, Location: NuneatonPosted: Fri May 27, 2011 8:01 am ---- Hi guys there's a guy on eBay selling some arches just up the road from me, however they're blue and my car is silver so I'm going to attempt my first spraying job, gonna stop off at halfords on the way back to pick up what I need, I need some wet and dry I think, some primer, EZR paint in a rattle can and some lacquer, am I missing anything else I need?
#2: Re: Quick question Author: smiddies, Location: BrightonPosted: Fri May 27, 2011 8:06 am ---- Get the paint mixed to match your car! best way!
#3: Re: Quick question Author: furryhobnob, Location: NuneatonPosted: Fri May 27, 2011 8:08 am ---- Where from mate? I thought if I told halfords my paint code they would supply them? The car is silver so surely they can't get that wrong lol
#4: Re: Quick question Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Fri May 27, 2011 8:10 am ---- They already have aluminium silver (ezr) made up in halford rattle cans. It will be close enough for arches easily, but if you are fussy go to a decent paint supplier and get them to match it. DON'T get halfords to match paint they do a s**t job, costs more and will probably turn out worse than the pre made cans.
#5: Re: Quick question Author: furryhobnob, Location: NuneatonPosted: Fri May 27, 2011 8:12 am ---- Cheers Harry, if the pre made rattles are a close enough match I'm happy with that, saying that the halfords near me has a paint shop just across the road and my dad got some paint for his mgb roadster from there and it was a great match

I saw, they were next to each other I was thinking wtf as well
@OP premades will be fine, just make sure you get the right silver there are a few different pug ones.
I realised a few weeks ago that for the last year I have been using a different type of silver as the halfords platinum silver was only made up to 1990 or something and isn't classed as eyc, it's just a coincidence that the old platinum silver has the same name as eyc. They don't sell eyc it needs to be made up

#12: Re: Quick question Author: Quarmbo, Location: Bristol & LeicesterPosted: Fri May 27, 2011 9:41 am ---- I've used Halfords several times for my old firedance gti and the paint match was almost perfect!
OP - just remember to take your time with the spraying.

#14: Re: Quick question Author: Mrs_Howey, Location: WorthingPosted: Fri May 27, 2011 10:26 am ---- If your not sure get them to take it out to the car so you can see the mixed up paint and the colour of the car next to each other. I do this a lot of the time for customers at halfords.
