#1: Help me with my diag readout. Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Fri May 27, 2011 10:22 am ---- I went to my local garage today because my EML light has been on a few days. I did not find anything or hear anything wrong.
P0481 Cooling fan control circut - Nothing wrong with the fan it comes on when it should.
P0606 ECU - ????
P0268 Injected fuel quantity cylinder 3 too high - Coil pack? MAP sensor?
P0325 Knock sensor 1 (Bank 1) - Maybe a clean could fix it? Could it cause the overfueling?
P0606 ECU - ????
I had the errors cleared but the EML came back pretty soon. Now I am feeling a bit underpowered; I have noticed a moments delay before anything happens when I put my foot down.
#2: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Sun Jun 05, 2011 6:27 am ---- Can anyone help? I Have borrowed a different code reader and I am getting an injector circuit open error on cylinder 1 and 4 but not 3 as stated with the other diag.
Also it didn't come up as a fault but when i ran a live test I found that bank 1 02 sensor was running 2v; is that not a bit low?
#3: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Sun Jun 05, 2011 6:54 am ---- I think λ-sensor should be reading around 0.5 to 1V.
Check the connections to the injectors if you can.
And/Or ECU connector plugs and sockets might need some contact spray.
But NOT WD-40.
#4: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Sun Jun 05, 2011 7:22 am ---- I will get some contact spray on the plugs. 3 bolts on my engine mount were very loose but I have tightened them. Maybe that caused the knock sensor error?
I tightened a few bolts on the injector rail also but it didn't do anything. I will have a look at the connectors. Could the injectors be at fault as well? I know generally they ether work or they don't.
#5: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Sun Jun 05, 2011 7:27 am ---- I would definately try contact spray everywhere you can.
Sounds like a systemic problem rather than all these things seperately.
Don't bother cleaning the knock sensor, won't do anything.
Hope you get it sorted.

I will do that. if it doesn't work then I might cry.
Edit: Just removed my coilpack to find cylinder 3 plug Is slightly yellow all over and very yellow around the top. Almost like its burning, unless my car has a fungal infection but it doesn't seem likely.
#7: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 5:47 pm ---- Coil pack and plugs changed. That made the cylinder 4 error go away. My dad seemed to think it was arching. EML light came back on so I took the injectors out and cleaned them, the rail, the plugs and that big plug thats behind the engine. As well as all other plugs I could find. I didn't do the ECU though because I couldn't figure out how to remove the plugs and I didn't want to break them.

Result?

Oh yeh, ops. No other results apart from what I said above. Cylinder 4 error and EML light still persist.
Other than figuring out how to take the ECU plugs of for a clean and inspection I am lost for ideas now. I have asked a number of my friends who are mechanics but they don't know.
#10: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Tue Jun 07, 2011 6:29 am ---- You have to be really careful with the ECU connectors because obviously the whole engine runs from there.
There are usually 'locking braces' which you have to carefully pull so they will allow the
connector to be unpluged. Then use good quality contact-spray and plug in and out to get cleaning
action while it's still wet.
Allow to thoroghly dry before finaly pluging-in and re-latching the lock-braces.
Battery must absolutely be disconnected!
Do NOT use WD-40!
It won't guarantee to solve your problems but it's good to elliminate possibilities one by one, and it can only
do good to things if you use a decent spray..
P.S. How old is the car and what model?
#11: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Tue Jun 07, 2011 10:11 am ---- I will try that thanks. Its a 1.1 53 plate. Up until now the car has always been perfect.
#12: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Tue Jun 14, 2011 10:32 am ---- Right. the other night the car decided to run on 2 cylinders.
I first pulled the injectors out. I realised that if the coil pack is unplugged the car does not inject fuel. I then plugged it in and tried it and all 4 were injecting. I put it back together and pulled the plugs which were bone dry. How can this be if fuel is going in?
I then tested the coil pack. On two of the wires (grey and I think red but not sure) power was getting to them when the ignition was turned on but then power is lost after a few seconds on those two. Is it supposed to do this?
#13: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Tue Jun 14, 2011 10:37 am ---- If the engine ecu detects a misfire on the ignition system it will also stop injecting fuel in to the cylinder affected to protect the cat from being damaged.
#14: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Tue Jun 14, 2011 12:41 pm ---- That makes sense, Going to go to the scrappers tomorrow and chop a coil plug off and wire it in.
#15: Re: Help me with my diag readout. Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Tue Jun 21, 2011 3:19 pm ---- Still had no joy. Took it to a garage and they didn't know. I will take it to an auto electrician next week and failing that I will burn it.
