#1: SAB206 project - 180 Author: SAB206, Location: North WestPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:15 pm ---- About time i got one of these back up and running eh
Previously had a Peugeot 206 1.1lx for 2 and half years, got when i was 16, which i modified and loved a lot!
that started out in life like this (lol at lexus lights and reflectors)
Ended up like this when I'd finished
It then hit an MOT, and a lot of problems were found, so i decided enough was enough and to get a newer one,
Took a trip to mercedes benz where some lass had traded one in for A-Class (bad move lol!)
Wanted one of these since i was at school! A 206 GTI180 in Aluminium Silver, had 23k on the clock, 2 years old ... I fell in love after a test drive So bought it.
Soon as i got it home the modifying bug bit me, so fitted some SP grills (top, middle and lower)
Painted the Calipers, and disc shields a nice shade of Gold
New tyres, yoko parada 2's - sticky in dry, useless in everything else
I like to work on my cars myself, so gave it a full service, along with new Rocker Gaskets to stop leaks
Mmmmm... CAMS
Two subtle Peugeot Sport Lion Vinyls
Then i wired in a automatically dimming rear view mirror off a 406 Coupé (awesome mod!)
Annoyed with only having a boot light at one side, I went and bought an identical one from Peugeot, measured it up and wired one in the other side, so it matches
Went to a Rolling Road meet with 206info, car kicked out underpower at the time 161.6bhp and 147lb/ft torque
Driving home from the meet, my handbrake snapped, which was a nightmare, so i set to fixing that myself two days later!
Around christmas 2008, My exhaust fell off ... so bought a full twin 3.5" Janspeed stainless cat back system (my fav mod by far lol - tunnellllsssss )
Then Came some FK M3 Crystal Rear LED Lights, so bright at night time, perfect
Had a wee bit of an accident, when i smashed into a kerb in the rain, turned the wishbone into a banana and knocked tracking way out =[
K&N Performance Panel Filter to help my engine breathe a bit better, look at the difference in width between OEM and the K&N lol!
After my exhaust and Air changes, decided to get another RR done, on the same dyno etc, now pulling out 169.2bhp and 154lb/ft torque, so a nice little increase
I'm also a bit of a detailing freak, spending way too much money and time on my car, so i detail the car and engine bay quite a lot haha
One box of many
dirty! pah!
clean
polished up the inlet mani and engine bay
before
after
then i converted my standard key into a remote 'flip' key
Recently Installed Cruise Control myself, i don't need it, just like odd gadgets on my car for some reason
Andddddd some random pics and videos of the car if anyones still awake and has bandwidth left haha
Future plans are to involve
- getting my alloys refurbed in a dark graphite colour.
- Eibach Sportline lowering springs and Bilstein Dampers
- Valeo Black Masked Headlights
- Black Masked fog lights

#9: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: DanWBangor91, Location: Bangor, GwyneddPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:24 pm ---- This just makes me wish I knew about cars so I could do things myself like you have. I'd love to service my car myself but wouldn't have a clue what to do lol. I know it's in the Haynes Manual but I still don't understand hehe.
#10: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Ams1592, Location: West MidlandsPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:25 pm ---- Cars really nice! The rear LED's look good
#11: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:27 pm ---- Looks lovely Scott
How hard was the Cruise Control to fit?
#12: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Dabamash, Location: The car in frontPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:27 pm ---- Looks awesome. Nicely laid out project as well.
Loving the car Scott as you know. Makes me really want to get stuck in about the 180 again this spring/summer for a good clay and spring clean! Black has just been a NIGHTMARE over the winter months.
Funnily enough i have just been on elite care care looking at what i want to buy...too much stuff as per bloody usual
Is it just me or is your rear axle overly rusty?! Mines is probably the same! Might tart it up for FCS. Oh the joys of having a lock-up for spray-age-ness.
#14: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Matt, Posted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:34 pm ---- never seen your 1.1 before 180 looks sweet. i remember you showing off your mani lol. every mod you have done to the 180 is very subtle and tastfull, which makes it a very nice car. looked after too which is good to see

As others said, are you actually part of the cruise control team?
What mods have you got lined up for the car then?
#20: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: |SGP|, Location: Truro/Falmouth, CornwallPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 4:21 pm ---- nice car! I'd love to get my bay as clean as that! O_O

Just noticed, you had it wrote at the bottom!
Puh leaaaaase get a slight smaller UK Font plate to fit the recess, it would look epically amazingly cool!
Mods sound good, the suspension is definately a good call aswell!
Also just noticed the gain you had from the exhaust and K&N which is a good result!
#23: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: SAB206, Location: North WestPosted: Fri Mar 05, 2010 11:24 am ---- cheers dave
good call on the plates, where did you get yours? are they legal? lol
#24: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Dave, Location: BirminghamPosted: Fri Mar 05, 2010 11:34 am ---- Fancyplates, You choose the custom size you want.
A 3/4 doesnt get pulled 99% of the time, and the 206 is more like a 9/10 sized plate but looks amazing. I tried a 3/4 on my 206, but was too small for the recess.
They arent legal, however a plate custom made to fit the 206 recess would NOT be picked on by the police!
#25: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Brian, Location: VVT Land, FifePosted: Sun Mar 07, 2010 11:26 am ---- That does sound like a great idea for the plates!
#26: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Ape, Location: Clipping the Apex!Posted: Sun Mar 07, 2010 11:29 am ---- I've got a 3/4 plate on mine, looks good but I do get twitchy when the Police are around

#30: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: SAB206, Location: North WestPosted: Sun Mar 07, 2010 2:24 pm ---- Thanks again people
Alan, I wire brushed it, and with a wire brush drill attachment. Then polished it up with Autosol (this on it's own looked nice)
Then i gave it a single thin layer of high temp engine lacquer, which really brings it up to how it should look
#31: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: bertt, Location: chesterPosted: Tue Mar 09, 2010 9:35 am ---- nice car that pal, looks tastefully modified and the extra bhp is always a bonus ;p

#35: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Dave, Location: BirminghamPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 6:56 pm ---- Good buy, start doing some proper mods now, Homo! Lol
Tools/Tool Boxes come in handy so often, i love having my own rather than borrowing my dads!

This!
I paid £200 for my 180 wheels to go from white to anthracite from 'The Wheel Specialist'
They tried quoting me more, but had quoted me this on the phone before hand so stuck to it. I also got Andy on here the same price as he referenced my Invoice no. Bet they loved me
Surely you could find cheaper than that! £200 is about average at £50 a wheel, try bartering with them!
#42: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Jamie, Location: Ring y0Posted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 7:14 pm ---- Or city powdercoaters

Same as what I've got
Keep the reciept incase you ever need to replace a broken tool.
So far only 1 of my bits from the red box has broken.

Id defintely use them if i was to need a refurb again.
Didnt know about them at the time.
Scott - Get it done!
#45: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Seb, Location: Under your bedPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 7:17 pm ---- I love the anthracite look, I think black would be too overpowering on such large spoke wheels. White, not sure whether it would work on silver...
#46: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: SAB206, Location: North WestPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 7:39 pm ---- but I'm struggling to get to City Alloys, with it being so far away, and I hate spending near £300 for some respraying when i know it can be done for £120.
#47: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Dave, Location: BirminghamPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 7:55 pm ---- Who quoted you £280, Wheel Specialist in Manchester?
Just did a quick search on Cliosport for you and people recommend them, and WRC in Preston.
#48: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: SAB206, Location: North WestPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 8:06 pm ---- yeah dave
#49: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: Dave, Location: BirminghamPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 8:08 pm ---- Three options
A. Say, Ill give you £50 a wheel and thats it, the rest is extortionate and i wouldnt pay that.
B. Bite the bullet and pay, Quality from the Bham Branch was great.
C. Find somewhere else/Take a trip to Birmingham Lol.

Did your car have the clutch switch on the car already & what PUG did you get the CC stalk from?
After that, did you just switch it on in the plannet software?
Thanks
#60: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: pat_986, Location: OxfordPosted: Thu Feb 24, 2011 1:10 pm ---- Bump, please see my previous post. thanks!
#61: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: SAB206, Location: North WestPosted: Thu Feb 24, 2011 1:33 pm ---- Sorry mate, missed that one!
Got as far as having all the parts reqd. to do it.
My intention was to go to Peugeot to get it programmed, but I heard a lot of stories around the web at the time saying it can be programmed to run, but immediately reverts back to the setting of 'inactive'. So didn't bother, might give it a go in the summer.
#62: Re: SAB206 project - 180 Author: pat_986, Location: OxfordPosted: Thu Feb 24, 2011 1:37 pm ---- Oh, what a bummer.
Thought you were going to say it was easy.
