#1: GTi 180 clutch Author: sri16v, Location: WalesPosted: Mon May 30, 2011 11:21 am ---- Hi , my GTi 180 has developed a nasty judder on the bite point, and also the release bearing is getting noisier by the day.
Im going to replace the clutch but whats the best one to go for or will any make do?
Any things I should know about doing a clutch on a 180 or is it as straightforward as any car?
Also Im guessing the judder may be down to the flywheel, should I bother changing the flywheel or leave it as it is.
thanks

Dont I know it, its always had a judder, but it has got a lot worse and with the release bearing making an ever increasing noise I cant see the clutch surviving much longer. Can feel the vibration through the pedal when just resting my foot slightly on the pedal.
bit annoyed as my old Gti made it to 93,000 miles before requiring a clutch, where as the 180 has only just hit 53,000 and I need rid, but may have to keep a bit longer now.
Is the clutch change any different on the 180 to the GTi?, anything I should be aware of or is it a straightforward job?
Any idea of the price of a clutch kit?
