ok so just bought a few things from the scrappy, new dials which dont work as there are two plugs in the back of the new one (black fascia) and mine only has one plug(white fascia) so first thing im wondering is there any way of adapting the new one to the old one Smile

Secondly bought a gti steering wheel for a fiver its in wicked nick but dont think itll fit mine as i havent got mine off yet but where the 2 holes to remove the airbag from the new one are , there arent any on mine, does this mean there's no way to fit it??

Thanks for any info and advice Smile

What year was the car you removed it from? preplex is pre 2001 so if it was before then then the steering wheel will not fit.

Yes it is possible but it requires a lot more work than a adapter

the one i took it from was a 03 plate gti , it had all the sp stuff etc so i would thought it would be the same :S and ok what else do you need is it the switch to enable you to autfold them ??

Then they will both have the clip on airbag type so will fit. Unless you get pictures can't really help anymore.

I don't know I haven't done it myself but yes you need the switch and a fair bit of wiring if I remember correctly.

k brilliant , so even though on the back of the gti one there are two screw holes that hold in the airbag and on mine there arent , the connections should still be the same and it should be fine??

Bolt on airbags are pre 2001 and after are clip on you NEED the correct one. I don't understand how you got a bolt on steering wheel from an 03 car. Did it have an airbag? Do you have any pics to confirm? Would help a lot

For the auto folding wingmirrors basically you need to wire thm in ( cut the plug fom your car and the mirrors and wire together) i done this to mine and they worked a treat. Plus i have the mirrors for sale of intrested with the switch. Cheers

Have you already bought the auto fold mirrors and what reg is your car. As if its new enough you will have the brown plug connectors.for the mirrors so they will just be plug and play. You just have to make sure that you have the right amount of wires. Cheers
