You either can update the BSI [change the settings] to activate the fogs, and you also more than likely need a new engine fuse box if you don't have the space for the fog fuse.

Or you can retro fit it by relays.

You can either have them come on with the rear fog or rear fog + dipped beam.

Just rear fog requires one relay. Other option requires two.

You will also need some wire, crimps and t-taps/scotch locks [unless you are willing to solder].

Fog the rear fog lamp feed, might be easier to route a wire from the rear of the car to the front [to avoid tapping into wire in the BSI].

so id need to tap into the rear fog and the front dipped's if i want them to come on with just the rear fog, and with the rear fog and dipped beam or is it one or the other with the 2 relays??

how much is it to have a bsi update, and doing this would it just activate the fogs without any relays or fuses??

No

You either have a BSI update AND new fuse box[if you don't have the space for the front fog light fuse]. Probably costs 1/2 - 1 labour for BSI update.

If you are using relays. You will need to tap into the fog light wire no matter what [if you want the fogs to behave normally].

You only need to tap into the main beam wire if you want them to come on with your main beam

Yeah the same, or you could tap into the wires coming from the stalk. Or you could even check if the extra wire from the stalk is already in the loom, then you'd just need a new stalk and fuse box.

Relay option by far. Would get all the stuff for under £20.

Other option, would be £50-70. Maybe more

Oh, I would find a shorter route than right from the back Wink Spot on mate. Cheers. Smile

k think ill go for the first option haha so where would you say the best place to tap into the rear would be ?? could i just find the wires going to the rear fogs and follow them back towards the front??

Wires go from left hand side of boot up thru headlining or down under carpet.

so basically follow the wires from the fogs and relay them into the ones from the rear fogs, what's the difference to adding the main beams??

#27: Re: front fogs help !!! Author: Lee, Location: England PostPosted: Sat Jun 04, 2011 9:21 am

When you turn on your main beams, the fogs will come on as well.

Yeah just follow the wires and tap into them.

Can buy a 7m reel of 8amp cable from halfords for about £4

k brilliant thanks a lot for all your help Smile so guess on tha basis you may aswell just turn the fogs on and then turn the main beams on aswell if you need both :S am i right in saying that ??

People normally wire them into the dipped beam for that extra bit of light down those country lanes at night.

And also for the 'coolness'

so then the rear fog would be left alone and i guess yeah it would look cool haha and i imagine with the wires already exposed its a lot easier to wire them in as all the wiring is there in front of you!
