What you trying to say? That it's good news when my mouth is taped up? Haha
#6: Re: Good News!!!! Author: CD-B3, Location: Salisbury / New ForestPosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 9:50 am ---- Can get them done for around £150.
Shop around.
#7: Re: Good News!!!! Author: Quarmbo, Location: Bristol & LeicesterPosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 9:51 am ---- Yeah, stop letting yourself get bummed and shop around, like others have said.
EDIT: apologies, I couldn't see your avatar and didn't realise you were a lady! What I meant to say was don't let them walk all over you - £500 is waaaaaay too much. I got my clutch replaced for £238 at Mr Clutch about 4 years ago.
#8: Re: Good News!!!! Author: alanamh, Posted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 9:53 am ---- Well it was only an estimate haha they are going to ring and confirm it lets hope they got it wrong and it's only £50! lol Last edited by alanamh on Mon Jun 06, 2011 9:55 am; edited 1 time in total

Tell them were too go, and find someone else.
#10: Re: Good News!!!! Author: JE_180, Location: WiltshirePosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 9:59 am ---- Jesus christ, you can get a race clutch for less than £500, £150-£250 at the most it should cost.
#11: Re: Good News!!!! Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 9:59 am ---- Do it yourself?
Get a couple of mates round pay them each about £30 and sorted, me and two mates did three gearbox swaps in a day
(i put the pressure plate round the wrong way )
#12: Re: Good News!!!! Author: kingdom200, Location: Leamington SpaPosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 10:03 am ---- i paid £260 last week including the clutch on my 180
#13: Re: Good News!!!! Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 10:04 am ---- £500. Thats CSG for you. Loads of places that will do it cheaper.
Get down to General Traffic and buy the clutch yourself, that will reduce the cost a hell of a lot as you won't be paying RRP for it.
#14: Re: Good News!!!! Author: alanamh, Posted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 10:26 am ---- £500 is for new clutch, new brake compensator and gear linkage or summat?
#15: Re: Good News!!!! Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 10:26 am ---- Ridiculously over priced.
#16: Re: Good News!!!! Author: alanamh, Posted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 10:28 am ---- that may be true but i trust they will do a good job and not f*** it up
#17: Re: Good News!!!! Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 10:30 am ---- there's paying extra to do a good job, and then there's been robbed.
This is the latter
#18: Re: Good News!!!! Author: alanamh, Posted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 10:34 am ---- I think it's the way i drive that i've f***ed up the clutch, i never use the handbrake (i know i should) and i just use the clutch all the time
#19: Re: Good News!!!! Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 10:42 am ---- Should last longer than what it has though, even if you do ride the clutch a lot.
#20: Re: Good News!!!! Author: stevedude, Location: aldershotPosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 11:05 am ---- [quote="KrisB"]£230 all inclusive buddy, thats with a Genuine valeo clutch.

#23: Re: Good News!!!! Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 12:43 pm ---- CSG are renowned for working on highly modified cars and therefor most of their customers have more money than sense. Couple that with a female who doesn't have a clue about cars and they just add a little bit more on.
I'd hate to go shopping with you as you would just buy the first thing you see and not shop around for the cheapest bargains. You'll be the type who buys 20 of something in Tesco, just because they are on offer and then end up throwing 19 away because you never used them.
#24: Re: Good News!!!! Author: alanamh, Posted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 1:29 pm ---- haha when it comes to shopping for food, clothes etc i am actually quite sensible and do look around, when it comes to my car (because i hardly know anything about it) i just panic when something needs doing and just go with the first option as i want it fxing (especially my clutch)
#25: Re: Good News!!!! Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Mon Jun 06, 2011 1:33 pm ---- I bet even the peugeot dealers would do cheaper than £500!
