No, run a mile.
The 1.6 HDI is the worse engine Peugeot ever fitted in the 206.
If you want a GTI buy either of the petrol versions.
If you want a diesel buy a 2.0 HDI

#6: Re: 206 1.6 HDI GTI Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Wed Jun 08, 2011 6:10 am ---- Removing the DPF is cheap enough. Then just change to a SMF when the clutch is knackered at about 80k.

#8: Re: 206 1.6 HDI GTI Author: Mikex110, Location: WolverhamptonPosted: Tue Jun 14, 2011 12:43 pm ---- I've owned a 1.6 HDI GTI for coming up to 4 1/2 years. Engines been fine and consistently returned 55-56 mpg for me (extra-urban). £95 annual car tax and lowish insurance as well.
Now the bad bit: I've had the clutch replaced at a cost of £628
I wouldn't recommend going for this car if you do mostly short journeys (knackers the particulate filter). I mostly use it for my 30 mile round trip to work.
Servicing needs to be spot on as well to avoid turbo troubles.
Hope this helps. Last edited by Mikex110 on Tue Jun 14, 2011 12:46 pm; edited 1 time in total
