#1: GT and GTI 1999 Author: leigh_boy, Location: EastbournePosted: Wed Jun 08, 2011 7:27 am ---- as some know my gti is a write off and i am looking for a new car, now i have seen a GT for sale localy for 1150 done 75k
has 3 problems
1. central locking doesnt always work but does every time on the key
2.radio display does not work
3. has lexus lights
so my question is is the gt exactly the same as the gti wirieng wise and parts wise?
as my plan would be,
1. not sure how to fix if worse came, change ecu, bsi , locks and key transpder from my gti
2. juct swap it over from the gti if its comptable
3. swap with my original lights from gti
#2: Re: GT and GTI 1999 Author: CD-B3, Location: Salisbury / New ForestPosted: Wed Jun 08, 2011 7:37 am ---- 1. Yes
2. Check fuses & bulbs or swap for another PPT30
3. Yes, straight swap.

#9: Re: GT and GTI 1999 Author: CD-B3, Location: Salisbury / New ForestPosted: Wed Jun 08, 2011 9:45 am ---- There is a button on the GT by the mirror adjustment.
#10: Re: GT and GTI 1999 Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Wed Jun 08, 2011 10:00 am ---- Non-plexed can't have two hf remotes. Only one and a valet key

What do you mean hf remotes? as in the remote ones?
If so why cant the pre plexed have two?
#12: Re: GT and GTI 1999 Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Wed Jun 08, 2011 10:54 am ---- Yeah remotes.

#15: Re: GT and GTI 1999 Author: leigh_boy, Location: EastbournePosted: Wed Jun 08, 2011 11:15 am ---- hmm, so a bit of a debate over this.
edward, is yours pre plex? and does both your keys work the cetral locking from the fob?
#16: Re: GT and GTI 1999 Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Wed Jun 08, 2011 11:17 am ---- Do they both work the central locking?
It's just every time I've coded one, it only allows one HF remote. And I asked a locksmith and he told me it normally only lets you do one too
