Electrical faults?
-> 206 Problems

I wonder if anyone can assist me. I'm a bit clueless when it comes to cars, so don't baffle me with jargon if you can help it!

I have a problem with my 2003 Peugeot 206 1.4. When I am driving, the headlights just come on for no reason. Often, when I put the indicators on, they will turn off and the lights will come on instead. This is not only SO frustrating, but dangerous too, as people think I'm not indicating! My car does have 'automatic lights' apparently, but I don't know if they've ever worked. When I follow the guidelines to set them up in the handbook, this doesn't work either. Recently, the rear wiper has started coming on for no reason too! I haven't tried anything to fix any of the problems as I have absolutely no idea where to start.

I could go into so much more detail, but I won't yet, in case no one can help me... Thanks very much for taking the time to read this.

Sounds like you need a new com2000

Indicator / wiper stalk unit, the drivers airbag & steering wheel needs removing to replace it.

Dont bother with a used com2000, get a new or a service / exchange unit.

Ok thank you. I'll try and see what I can find. Assume that's fairly easy to replace then...? Even for a girl!

Its the whole unit that sits behind the steering wheel. It has an ECU and controls a number of things including what has been said above.

The drivers airbag & steering wheel has to be removed to replace it.

To let you know in advance, the airbag pops off by pushing a screwdriver through the hole in the back of the steering wheel and the wheel comes off with a big torx screw and a stong tug.
