Selling it is not really a solution though... Its my first car, I have to stick with it for a while, It was brought for me by my dad...
#10: Re: Whats sort of things can you do to a diesel? Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 10:32 am ---- 1.9D's are too much of a 'mechanical' engine. Very hard to tune. Just enjoy the car until you have the money to upgrade.

#14: Re: Whats sort of things can you do to a diesel? Author: furryhobnob, Location: NuneatonPosted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 12:37 pm ---- Haha macj that's a bit harsh, my first car was a 1.9 diesel, even a 1.2 petrol is a better and more responsive, the only thing going for the diesel engine is fuel economy mate, other than that the best advice I can give u is get your first years no claims and sell up and buy something else that's what I did
#15: Re: Whats sort of things can you do to a diesel? Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 1:05 pm ---- The general advice tends to be just keep the engine serviced, but you can still make it handle better
#16: Re: Whats sort of things can you do to a diesel? Author: Seabook, Posted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 1:08 pm ---- no one would buy a 1.9 diesel.
scrap it.

I just asked for advice and you reply with crap.. Everyone has had a first car... I wish I could afford to insure a GTi 180 but the government suck..
#19: Re: Whats sort of things can you do to a diesel? Author: Seabook, Posted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 1:33 pm ---- got no idea how old you are or how many NCB you got.
if you can only afford to insure the 1.9D i would guess you can't afford to declare any mod.
even your nimrod in your sig. you should have delcare it as no 1.9D will come with nimrod as standard.
save up money for servicing and mot etc.
until you can get something nicer.
the truth is 1.9D is the worse engine in 206 series, the worse mpg among the diesel engine and the slowest car as well.
there is nothing you can do with the engine. if you want the improve the handling you better save up some money for a new axle. being a 12 year old puggy i doubt the axle is in good shape.
unless you sure the car is in top conditions, otherwise it is pointless to put money into mod.
cambelt done? is all suspension component in good shape, without any play? got any brake pad/ brake shoe left? is the clutch got any life left? Last edited by Seabook on Sat Jun 11, 2011 1:35 pm; edited 1 time in total
#20: Re: Whats sort of things can you do to a diesel? Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 1:33 pm ---- Only thing to do is treat it like tuning a N/A petrol engine. You don't have the option of increasing revs to create more power though.

no camshaft avalible, can't put ITB on, i doubt de-cat and backbox can give out any extra power at all. i am running out of idea
#22: Re: Whats sort of things can you do to a diesel? Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 1:44 pm ---- Can always get the cam reground to give some higher lift. Head flow could be improved.
ITB's only needed with long duration cams which would be a waste of time on a diesel.
