#1: Odd misfire :-/ Author: sicskate, Location: Margate, Kent PostPosted: Fri Jun 24, 2011 11:51 am
    ----
This only started this evening on my 138gti
When between 1750-2250 rpm I'm getting a miss fire and a flatspot.
Its not too bad as I can just accelerate through it, but it's a pain as between gear changes it usually picks up at around 2000rpm, so every gear change I'm getting this, unless I'm giving it beans.

Many thanks in advance.

Might be worth checking / replacing the spark plugs first.

Nice set of Bosch super plus plugs are cheap enough.

Hope it aint running NGK's Wink Laughing

Could be loads of things. Injectors faulty, lambda, coil pack, spark plugs, list goes on..

Yup, I'm aware it could be a number of things.
Luckily I'm quite handy with tools, I mainly wanted to rule out a clutch issue as it's always between the same rpm.

Does that mean I have to take it to a garage?

I had a similar problem. My car started to misfire and one of my mates said it might have been my HT leads or spark plugs. So we changed the sparks to super 4's but that didn't solve the problem. My uncle then did a diagnostics and found that an injector was the problem. After a few weeks, the same again, one of the other injectors had gone. Then it misfied again so I had enough, it needed serviced anyway so sent it into puegeot to see what the crack was and they serviced it. I felt stupid after, the sparks plugs wern't tightened so when accelerating they where bouncing out and causing a misfire (wasn't me that change the sparks lol). But the original problem was the injector but thats what can happen so get everything checked. Also maybe check the coil pack, changed it too but it wasn't that lol. Hope that helps a bit.

A decent garage will charge nothing or very little to plug a diagnostic machine in. You may need to get the error log cleared before the light goes out.
