Is the mileage counter still going up?
Open the drivers door on to the safety catch.
Drive of up to about 10mph
Does the interior light start flashing?
#5: Re: Speedo Problem Author: johnboy1989, Location: South walesPosted: Sat Jun 25, 2011 11:21 am ---- milage isnt moving and i will try that tomorrow as going work but ill let you know tomorrow night cheers for that
#6: Re: Speedo Problem Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sat Jun 25, 2011 11:24 am ---- Speed sensor / wiring fault:
Speed sensor is on top of the gearbox, also behind the passenger side front wheel arch liner there is an electrical multiplug, the wires have been known to break at this plug.
Pop the speed sensor out & spin it with a drill to test it.
#7: Re: Speedo Problem Author: johnboy1989, Location: South walesPosted: Thu Nov 03, 2011 12:42 pm ---- Hi there i just tried the open the door and that didnt do anything no noise or light flashing so i took it to my mechanic changed the speedo sensor and still not working so i spoke to him and said about my mileage count doesnt comes up now and again so he said its the hole of the counter dash board. So just wanted to know if thats the right thing to do now as i know there about £40 for the 1 i need. if anyone can let me know that would be great cheers
#8: Re: Speedo Problem Author: herb-16v, Location: cumbriaPosted: Thu Nov 03, 2011 12:51 pm ---- i got a probably with mine but my speedo works but my mileage count don't go up
#9: Re: Speedo Problem Author: johnboy1989, Location: South walesPosted: Thu Nov 03, 2011 12:52 pm ---- Thats got to be with the wiring then :/ that one is strange
#10: Re: Speedo Problem Author: john206gti, Location: south shieldsPosted: Thu Nov 03, 2011 12:53 pm ---- on mine its the plastic drive gear that clips onto the diff. it has split so the gearbox sensor doesn't read it.
take the sensor out and have a look in with a torch. and look at the multiplug wiring under the passenger side arch liner.
don't think it will be your full dials at fault.
#11: Re: Speedo Problem Author: johnboy1989, Location: South walesPosted: Thu Nov 03, 2011 12:55 pm ---- the only thing not working is my mileage not going up plus my mph dial not moving so i dont think its that
#12: Re: Speedo Problem Author: john206gti, Location: south shieldsPosted: Thu Nov 03, 2011 5:25 pm ---- the millage goes up by your speedo. if you speedo doesn't work the car doesn't think its going anywhere therefor no mileage. and no stop light flashing with the door open
my mph gauge isn't working or my mileage display
#13: Re: Speedo Problem Author: johnboy1989, Location: South walesPosted: Thu Nov 03, 2011 5:33 pm ---- yer i know that ive been told because the speed dial isnt moving i need new dials but then im thinking it might be my ecu :/

my millage does not go up and my speedo is working
#15: Re: Speedo Problem Author: john206gti, Location: south shieldsPosted: Fri Nov 04, 2011 10:57 am ---- that will be a mileage display problem.
if you was to unplug the speed sensor on the gearbox on working dials to stop the speedo working the mileage wont go up either.
