2nd Button on key?

#1: 2nd Button on key? Author: Scootymad, Location: Norfolk PostPosted: Sun Jun 26, 2011 3:00 pm

I have a 99' 206 GTi, and the remote central locking appears to have 2 buttons.. 1 locks and unlocks it, but I can't seem to figure what the other does!

It makes the red led flash on the key.. but appears to do nothing else..

Anyone shed some light on this for me? Smile

Ahh right! Should the car give any confirmation of this, like another flash of the lights or anything?

My Glx gives a chirps when deadlocking but has to be done within 2-3 seconds after locking bith button (1)

Press and hold it and it should work like a panic button and set the alarm off after holding it down.

turn ignition off and remove key then hold said button for 2-3 seconds and it turn's off the interior sensor's so on hot days you can leave windows down a little and lock up the car withought the alarm going off Very Happy

the led in the dash hazard button will come on IIRC. to tell you its disabled and then you will need to deadlock it for the alarm to still operate on the rest of the car. otherwise you might as well have left it unlocked lol

It SHOULDN'T chirp when deadlocking, your alarm system is trying to tell you a door / boot / bonnet isnt shut correctly Wink

Or you have a small bird stuck between the locking mechanism...

The alarm shouldnt chirp when deadlocked Wink

Either a door / boot / bonnet sensor is defective.

I have had a chirp when the boot was not shut properly. I was just locking not deadlocking

Check the bonnet sensor is working.

Disable ultrasonics, deadlock / arm the alarm, wait 30 seconds & then pull the bonnet release handle

Should keep the battery connected and run the car for 10 minutes until its warm and runs ok every so often to prevent things blocking up. Amount of CAT's that get knackered because people leave cars stood still for ages is unreal
