#1: Does this quote sound right? Author: LeeUK, Location: NorthumberlandPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:33 am ---- I've been quoted £441 to supply and fit front discs, pads and brake hoses and both front wishbones.
Is this too high? Seeing as I could of had discs and pads done for around £100 a year ago.
Thanks
#2: Re: Does this quote sound right? Author: Antknee, Location: ManchesterPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:34 am ---- do the disks and pads yourself, p**s easy job, not sure how much work wishbones take though
#3: Re: Does this quote sound right? Author: sheehan879, Location: HitchinPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:38 am ---- It seems high to me
If you are not comfortable doing it yourself ring round a few local garages.
#4: Re: Does this quote sound right? Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:38 am ---- I have seen wishbones being done, Its simple just a bit awkward and take good sized hammer or pry-bar. As said disks and pads are really easy to do.
#5: Re: Does this quote sound right? Author: MrZiggerz, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:44 am ---- Very high priced. But take in that labour is so expensive.
#6: Re: Does this quote sound right? Author: Antknee, Location: ManchesterPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:45 am ---- thinking about it, if you had disks put on last year, why do you need new ones already? :S
#7: Re: Does this quote sound right? Author: Seabook, Posted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:51 am ---- pair of front wishbone cost around 200+
disc and pad probably around 70-ish
hose is dirt cheap.
you will need brake fluid (1L max) +bleeding too.
please don't tell me you can get feebay wishbone for XX pound.
#8: Re: Does this quote sound right? Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:56 am ---- I got GTI wishbones for £90. But I Stole my mates trade card
As said unless you have been driving your car with the brakes metal to metal for a very long time you do not need new disks. You are getting ripped off. Go elsewhere or do the work yourself.

#10: Re: Does this quote sound right? Author: LeeUK, Location: NorthumberlandPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 6:04 am ---- Thanks all,
I mean I had a couple of quotes of £100 a year ago for disks and pads but never got them done at the time.
Will get a few more quotes for the work but the job need doing as they were MOT advisories for 2 years running.
#11: Re: Does this quote sound right? Author: E5GDM, Location: EssexPosted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 6:50 am ---- If all the work genuinely needs doing & they're using decent parts it probably aint far out. As said above you can save money by doing it yourself, especially the pads & discs. If your not competent to carry out the work yourself (or blagging a mate to help) at least get another quote for the work. Might be worth asking whoever eventually carries out the work to give you back the bits they remove as an extra precaution they ain't taking the jimmy out of you.

Thats genuine Peugeot parts prices from a dealer.
They are worth the extra money over the crap Ebay / motor factors sell.
Last time I checked Peugeot main dealer was cheaper then Euro car parts

Last drop link I got from somewhere outside peugeot was much higher quality material than the one from peugeot themselves. Can't remember where I got it from though...
