HELP!

big problem. drove home from town this evening. turned the car off. when i went to turn it back on. GTi 180 btw

Bad -
- turned on, revs dropped then leveled out
- very choppy tickover
- loser of power
- sounds like its only running 3 cylinders

Good -
- no smoke
- no oil
- not over heating
- no creamy stuff in oil

any ideas guys ? head gasket ? knackerd spark plug ?

What coil pack and spark plugs you running?

ever had problems with the vvt?

fault reader mate, however the first thing to always try on the 180 when stuff like this happen is to remove the VVT solenoid, clean it with carb cleaner and put it back in Very Happy

VVT seems fine, im guessing the spark plugs are standard along with the coilpack. the emissions light is on

Take the plugs out see if they are covered in anything or burnt if they are you might have valve stem seal problems which is head removal to check also do a compression check to see you have good compression on all the cylinders. I'm a Peugeot tech these are common problems on these

When you say the Plug's are standard, Do you mean the original's that came with the car or Original Peugeot?

Take up Lees offer - you'd be mad to turn him down. Peugeot would charge about £80 just to read the codes. And from what I've heard he's extremely knowledgable and helpful.

If that is the problem head off remove the problem valves and they are little rubber seals which help to seat the valves

Are they Peugeot spark plugs or ngk spark plugs. Cause if they are ngk plugs Peugeots don't run on ngk plugs

Woke up this morning to take it to my mates. its running fine, all 4 cylinders are firing, no anti poloution fault. iv taken it for a drive and let it warm up numerous amount of times and its perfectly fine

I'd still get it code read. Things don't happen for no reason, and could cause more problems in the future.
