#1: Engine power at low speed - stalling Author: matt001, Location: LondonPosted: Thu Jun 30, 2011 5:43 pm ---- Im new to this forum again. Ive been car-less for 2 years and decided to get another Peugeot, a 206 XSi, use to have a GTi for 3 years and was very reliable for me.
However, I think this new car has an engine issue. It just wont pull its own weight at idle revs when slowly moving in first of reverse. Its been a while since ive driven but im sure my GTi would reverse under idle power once i got it rolling a bit with me half on clutch to slow it down, maybe a tiny bit of revs but not much. This XSi im having to rev it up a lot more all the time and still keep the clutch half off to avoid it stalling... its hard to explain but seem to feel like low in torque and engine would rather stall.
It has a very stable idle at 750rpm and no smoke from exhaust. Had full service and new coil pack as this broke... oh the joys of owning a car again! Would cleaning Idle motor valves/ throttle body help this situation? ANy other ideas.. is it just a lemon! Cheers for reading.

The car had a noisy off the shelf 'sport' rear box so I got a standard XSi one fitted and they also found a leak in the connecting pipe after the cat and replaced that, i guess the rear box hid the leak sound. So my exhaust system is all pressurised properly now and the car is much better at crawling along in london traffic and reversing.

My 206 is chugging and stuttering. there is quite a lot of water coming out of exhaust. I may have hit a flood, well, not much of a one. There are also a few holes patched up in my exhaust. Anybody think these are related to the engine not being right?
