#1: Fitting side airbags to Gti seats Author: HFStuart, Location: SuffolkPosted: Wed Jul 06, 2011 3:31 pm ---- My passenger seat is Fubar. The recline doesn't and it won't lock back in place. This is a problem with the hinges not with the runners.
A member has offered their seat but it's non airbag so obviously I'd like to fit my perfectly good cover and side airbag. The donor is a 2000 X plate Gti 138. I think side airbags were an option in late 2000 which suggest the holes in the seat frame should be there.
Does anyone know for sure whether I can fit my cover and airbag to the seats from that model?
Failing that can I tell the BIS that side airbags are no longer fitted so switch off the dash light and switch the wheel and dash airbags back on?

Then when removing the seats put a resister that is the same resistance as the seats connectin the wires. that way the cor will think there is still airbags there.

Its called a BODGE

That said I'd rather have the airbag too if I can, so does anyone have an answer to my other question?

Just swop the backrest cover & airbag on to the other frame.
