g/s is connected to a rod and the rod goes into the g/b I think the rod is loose? People who have fitted a quickshift kit (shorter rod) can confirm this
Would that be related to the gunk underneath and whats the damage cost wise?
Probably just a bolt needs tightening or a new rod is required if threads are worn, I don't think it will be too expensive

aluminium still formed oxide. but they behaved differently.
iron (III) oxide are lossen and will fall off easily. most over, rust surface are rough so it would condense more water into it. and rust is not just iron (III) oxide, it is way more complicated than that.
while aluminim get oxidized to just aluminium (III) oixde. it will not fall off so it would stop the bottom metal part from oxidation.

Yes aluminium does corrode (not rust) but aluminium corrosion actually forms a protective layer and is not anywhere near how iron reacts with oxygen in terms of structural stability.

Well i just got rid of my old Toyota Station Wagon had it 27 years.
Spent a bit off money over the years.
How long will a PUG last not that long and it will cost an arm and a leg to keep going.
The only reason i bought a Pug was to try something different.
Maybe i should have bought another Toyota.

nope i dont do cheap id rather take it off the road while i save.
its just a bit extreme whats gone wrong, granted its 12 year old but the cars done less than 90k, not exactly high mileage especially for its ageand the interior is excellent so te car hasn't really been abused id say

- Inlet manifold
- Exhaust manifold
- Drive shafts twice
- Drivers side radius arm
- Bottom tortion bar
- Rear anti roll bar and plates
- Rear anti roll bar seals
The newest thing im eating through is exhaust centre sections
