after finally getting my car back on the road today after over a year, and after about an hours driving.... i think the gearbox has gone....

everytime i pulled away in 1st it would sort of jump and clunk..... so decided to take it home to have a look, and id crunched and stopped and everytime i put it and gear and try to lift the clutch it just grinds.....

so got it towed home and hey...it works....oh wait....no it dosent now....

any help, new gear box, or needs oil or anything......?

does it pop out of gear whilst driving along? does the gearbox whine whilst driving?

are you sure it's the gear box and not gear linkage?

nope stayed in gear fine and no whines when it was goin, just pops into gear fine, and the grinds like the gears arnt engaging properly....

but i tried it when it got towed home and worked.... so got the guy who gave me a tow to hold it back n just started grinding again....

Sounds like a diff issue or pinion shaft damage. If the car has been left standing for a long period you may have got condensation in the box which has rusted a bearing.
