Central locking problem

my remote central locking's stopped working, the red light just flashes on my key when trying but no response from the car. Could this just be the fuse or the key battery gone flat?

Try your central locking on the key on the door first, and report back. That would answer alo't of questions if they work on the door.

They're has been previous problems with pug fobs playing up.
I had problems on a 106, that despite lighting up and with a fresh battery, refused to operate the locking.
Turned out to be some dry joints on the board inside the keyfob.

But I'm sure it affects infra red keyfobs and not the FM ones.

Which type do you have?

It works if I just unlock it using the door just not remotely.

Yeah I tried searching it as I've seen a lot of central locking problems but none of them seemed to help with this.

I'm not certain, how can you tell which type it is?

If the fob is all black with two buttons then its the FM type.

If its got 1 button and a infra red type LED sticking out the top near where the key comes out of the fob then its the infra red type.

Drew, yours sounds like a infra red type.

Visit a pug dealer, they should have a infra red keyfob tester, ask them if there's a signal coming from it.

All 206 fobs are RF (radio), not Infra-Red.

Not relevant on this thread but handy tip for the future. All infra red remotes can be tested with the camera on your phone. Even your tv or dvd remote Laughing , turn your camera on and point it at the tiny glass bulb on the remote and press any button on the remote and look at your phone screen. If it's working you'll see flashing on your phone screen. Smile
