#2: Re: Car sold Author: Seabook, Posted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:20 pm ---- get a gti, it is just equally cheap apart from tax and insurance
#3: Re: Car sold Author: matt.handley, Location: kentPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:21 pm ---- i was thinking that, but i only have a years no claim so insurance would be sky high for me
#4: Re: Car sold Author: Howey, Location: Kings LynnPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:23 pm ---- Dont get an XS, they are s**t.
#5: Re: Car sold Author: Seabook, Posted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:24 pm ---- don't get the XS (8V), get the XSI at least (16v),
usual 206 problem anyway....
#6: Re: Car sold Author: matt.handley, Location: kentPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:25 pm ---- now thinking about just taking the hit and getting a gti lol
#7: Re: Car sold Author: Howey, Location: Kings LynnPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:26 pm ---- Might as well, the tax is the same.
#8: Re: Car sold Author: meady, Location: basingstokePosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:43 pm ---- Might aswell get a gti mate. I got one when i turned 18 and insurance was only £1300 or £1500

Im sorry, the XS model is simply (apart from the 1.9d) the worst 206.
Thirsty, rattley engines that cost a fortune to tax. They are they worst variant of the TU5 range, saxo's and 106's have better tuned versions for goodness sake!
They dont even have disk brakes and dont get me started on the granny spec interior...
Edit: Oh and the fact you needed a new engine as well!

Mine dont have a granny interior And my fuel consumption is really good
But, I agree, the standard XS is s**t.
EDIT after your EDIT: It had 115k miles on it and it was a head gasket. Was cheaper to put the spare lump we had in
#14: Re: Car sold Author: Howey, Location: Kings LynnPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:54 pm ---- Not anymore, because you have changed it...
What figures are you getting then Nathan?
#15: Re: Car sold Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 12:56 pm ---- My mileometer doesnt work, but I worked it out that on Sunday I did 260 miles on half a tank. No idea about mpg and all that lol.
So considering my old diesel did 405 miles a tank, my pug does 115 miles more lol.
#16: Re: Car sold Author: Howey, Location: Kings LynnPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:00 pm ---- I measured mine at 19.4mpg around town, driving like a granny the other day!
The most I've ever had out of a tank 100% motorway driving is 390 miles I think. However it was doing 42 mpg when I was in Cornwall...
#17: Re: Car sold Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:01 pm ---- hehe Howey. Sorry I just loved the XS when I had it though. I think I got decent economy at around 160miles to £20 at the time and thats better than a pesky 180!
#18: Re: Car sold Author: Howey, Location: Kings LynnPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:03 pm ---- Just a poo trim level, suggests that it is trying to be something but is merely average.
#19: Re: Car sold Author: Scootymad, Location: NorfolkPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:04 pm ---- GTi
#20: Re: Car sold Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:04 pm ---- XS - eXtra Special
#21: Re: Car sold Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:05 pm ---- Just think of it as a poverty spec sport
And I think its a good base to work from, especially now parts are cheap.
#22: Re: Car sold Author: Howey, Location: Kings LynnPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:06 pm ---- Any 206 is a good base to work from if you apply that logic!
#23: Re: Car sold Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:08 pm ---- exactly
Have I sold its appeal yet?
#24: Re: Car sold Author: Howey, Location: Kings LynnPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:11 pm ---- Not to me! But almost 4 years with the b*****d would dull the enthusiasm!
#25: Re: Car sold Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:13 pm ---- lol. Mines only been on the road since March so i still love it. Even if it keeps going wrong
#26: Re: Car sold Author: Scootymad, Location: NorfolkPosted: Tue Jul 19, 2011 1:15 pm ---- If you're going to buy a 206 in the higher tax band.. then you may as well get the GTi as the insurance difference isn't THAT much..
