#1: new wheel size? Author: karimali831, Location: EnglandPosted: Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:09 am ---- I am sorry if this is a silly question but I want to get this clear out of my head I've got 14" inch wheels, am I able to upgrade to 15" ?? I was thinking I couldn't because of suspension, speedometer inaccuracy, arch room and spacing etc but was told you can in some cases, depends on the car itself.
any thoughts?
thanks guys

#8: Re: new wheel size? Author: Antknee, Location: ManchesterPosted: Wed Jul 20, 2011 9:24 am ---- If you get a bigger wheel with a lower profile tyre you wont have any issues, if you get a bigger wheel with the same profile tyre as on the 14" you're read speed will be slightly out, i have !7" wheels with low profile tyres and its only about 2mph different according to my tomtom
edit: the 2mph out is at 30, obviously the faster you go the greater the difference will be

But it will be out anyway because speedo's are setup to read higher than you are actually going.

But the satnav is accurate, the speedo is inacurate
#13: Re: new wheel size? Author: karimali831, Location: EnglandPosted: Wed Jul 20, 2011 11:46 am ---- Okay never mind the speedometer, lets say I upgraded to 16" or 17" and used the same tyres, what about the wheel arch is there enough room??
#14: Re: new wheel size? Author: arronmee1990, Location: Broughton AstleyPosted: Wed Jul 20, 2011 12:31 pm ---- 17 inch wheels with 60 odd profile will look properly stupid and your car will look like it's on stilts even more
#15: Re: new wheel size? Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Wed Jul 20, 2011 1:34 pm ---- use this to work out wheel sizes, speedo and tyre profile.
