#1: New Red n White Project Thread *Update Page 7 - 26/1/2012* Author: craigy00craig, Location: surreyPosted: Mon Jul 25, 2011 12:56 pm ---- I bought Jared's (PugJH) old car about 2 weeks ago. 53 1.1 style
There has been a lot of work put into this car by Jared so I thought it would make sense to put a link to his original project thread. Not really fair I take the credit for how the car looks at the moment lol.
and will post some pictures up when they get delivered and put them on
So far I have fitted a Cupra R splitter and my grenade dustcaps from my old car
anyway here are some pictures
I think the next mod needs to be a wash tho!! Last edited by craigy00craig on Thu Jan 26, 2012 9:43 am; edited 13 times in total

But i agree about the wheels.

#12: Re: New Red n White Project Thread Author: craigy00craig, Location: surreyPosted: Mon Jul 25, 2011 3:30 pm ---- I do like the wheels but with them only being 15" it really does leave a massive gap between the tyre and the arch and i cant afford to get it lowered properly.... probably could afford some springs to drop it a little bit, you think it would be worth it?

Yep, if you change them. Get these, don't get vortex they are to big for the 1.1 especially if your looking to lower it. That my opinion anyway.
But then again some people hate the 205 1.9s some love them, think with a nice clean they will come up pretty well, if you do sell them let me know lol, could be a drive up to you for me haha.
Or get some cotya/tempests in white. Look pretty nice I think

sexual.. car still needs a wash tho... will do it this weekend.
Been talking to KrisB about getting it lowered. Looking at getting a pair of Apex springs for the front.... looking at 60mm drop, what you recon? To be fair tho, it's about a 10 minuite car journey from the arch to the tyre so i dont think it will be too low

Tried to do it on a spare airvent ive got but not sure if i like it, here's some pics
It looks pretty s**t and messy round the head unit slot but i figured you wouldnt see that when my cd player's in it, you can see there are a few bubbles though boo

#47: Re: New Red n White Project Thread *updated 27/08/11* Author: craigy00craig, Location: surreyPosted: Sat Aug 27, 2011 6:12 pm ---- I used a hair dryer on the vinyl to heat it up which allows you to stretch it so you dont get any creases round the edge. was pretty easy on the mirror caps which is all one pretty even surface but my god the centre console was a b***h, didnt even bother trying to do the top part! Took about an hour and a half just to do that bit.
Erm you just get a knife with a thin cloth wrapped round it and wedge it under the caps and they just pop off, takes two seconds. Ive got some Louis Vuitton mirror caps on at the moment but will keep the cf ones incase i fancy a change i think.
Pretty excited about getting lowered tomorrow

well i havnt notised any dramatic change in comfort really, obviouly you have to go slower over bumps but it isnt too bad. Coilovers probably would be better but you can ajust them anyway unless you do the tortion bar as well which is quite a lot of effort. If you hve the money go for coilovers.

Also the different coloured panels dont help.
Wings were sprayed in Scotland, front grill and bumper are Cherry red, Mirrors were sprayed by a guy called Wez who used to be on here, and the bump strips were from a KKN 206 from scrap yard, minus back bump strip which i sprayed, oh and arches were from a show car that never got used, and spoiler is cherry red too.
Its all linked in my old WIP., when its all cleaned it looks pretty good

This really bugs me as I am sure there is no such thing as SP door handles.......
These handles are just off a higher spec or later model 206 than yours. Im pretty sure they were never listed as an optional extra.
If there are SP vent sliders with a chrome trim, I don't see the problem with these being called SP door handles

#89: Re: New Red n White Project Thread *Update Page 6 - 4/12/11* Author: craigy00craig, Location: surreyPosted: Sun Dec 11, 2011 8:31 am ---- Did this a while ago but never got any pics of it.
Put my satnav into my sun visor and put the charging cable up though the head lining to the map light to keep it charging when im driving.
Was a b***h of a job to do and had to use bolts to secure the two parts of the visor back together. Due to this the cover for it doesnt fit perfectly over any more. I think it was Edward that did this originally and he didnt bother putting the the cover back on and just sprayed it. Might do this in future but dont think it looks too bad at the moment. Anyway here are some pics..

#93: Re: New Red n White Project Thread *Update Page 6 - 11/12/11* Author: craigy00craig, Location: surreyPosted: Sun Dec 11, 2011 9:53 am ---- Cheers guys. Wasnt my idea so cant really take the credit for it lol. Yer Ben its not as good as having it on the windscreen when it comes to visability but its just so much easier not having to mess around sticking it on and getting ring marks etc. and i use it quite a lot so its just quicker to flip it up and down really
Errm BSI i think its 5? Think it had a blue one originally and i think Jared had a black leather one, red and black leather from a cc, the red cloth one that was in it when i bought it and now the 180 one. Last edited by craigy00craig on Sun Dec 11, 2011 1:25 pm; edited 1 time in total

#96: Re: New Red n White Project Thread *Update Page 6 - 11/12/11* Author: craigy00craig, Location: surreyPosted: Fri Jan 20, 2012 1:28 pm ---- Another small update. Hopefully going to have some money soon to do some slightly more interesting things but here is what I've done recently..
Got some SMD LED bulbs and put them in the side lights and number plate lights. My friend said that these will cause an MOT failure, is this true? If so i need to get a regular 501 bulb. Also the passenger side sidelight looks a lot brighter but this is just the camera and out lighting outside.
Also got some LED reversing bulbs, could someone let me know if this is also an MOT failure, is so i will swap the bulbs round when the time comes.
If someone could let me know about the MOT it would be appreciated
#97: Re: New Red n White Project Thread *Update Page 7 - 20/1/2012* Author: craigy00craig, Location: surreyPosted: Sun Jan 22, 2012 1:13 pm ---- Had a massive brainwave today (this doesn't happen often with me).
The wiring for my morettes my friend did was super dodgy, there was loads of tape and it just looked like a mess and was worried that this would cause it to fail its MOT.
Then i just thought... whats stopping me taking the H7 plugs out of the old crystal headlights and connecting them up to the bulbs in the morettes? The answer was nothing, so i did and it worked
Snapped the plastic bits round the plug in order to get it out
and then i just plugged this into the car, connected it to the bulbs in the Morettes and it worked a treat.
Why this didnt cross my mind at the time when i was crying that i didnt know how to get them connected i dont know.
#98: Re: New Red n White Project Thread *Update Page 7 - 20/1/2012* Author: JDave, Location: Airdrie, ScotlandPosted: Sun Jan 22, 2012 6:47 pm ---- I was told that those types of bulbs were a MOT failure when I fitted them BUT I have passed 2 MOT's since I've had them. Wither that it luck or not I don't know. I suppose the bulbs are cheap enough if you don't want to take the risk.
Car is looking good btw, keep it up!!
