Hiya guys. Got another problem and wondered if anyone can shed any light on it. My 1.9d engine is a pain to start in morning. Takes a good minute to start. Once started it runs well and will start just fine for rest of the day. I got the car on Sunday and the day before they put new glow plug in it. (Got recept). Only thing i can think of it maybe the fuel pump has a leak somewhere or a air leak. Anyone else had similer problems and if so how did you fix it?

Hope it not gonna cost loads as im on a bit of a budget.

Its a v reg 206 1.9d Smile

starter motor maybe?

or check the battery and power going to the battery

also iu doubt glow plugs would have been at fault anyway, they only really get used if its really cold

I had same problem on a 1.9d, full set of glow plugs and I never had another single problem, although yeah, this is usually only to do with the cold weather.

Hmm now im worried as the batt is strong as it has no problem turning the engine over for the minute or so before it starts. Also the last owners put new glow plugs in as i have the recept. Also had alook and they do seem new. (Thats if im looking in the right place.) Small siver things with a nut on the end.

Im just really stuck as when i get it started it fine all day. Even if i switch it off it will start straight away. It just doesn't like waking up in the morning Sad

You are letting your glow plugs warm up before starting aren't you?

Yeah i have been mate. The glow plug light is the yellow/orange light just under my fuel gauge. It goes out but the car still wont start for ages. Looks like i might have to try new glow plug's. As this seems the only thing that seems to come up Smile

Unless the fuel pump isn't priming properly?

Try bleeding the system, and maybe changing the fuel filter

Get the battery tested, a derv takes a lot more power to start than a petrol

Right i've checked batt. Its fine. Its got no air in system. Only thing i just spotted is i have a leaking injector. Wonder if that could be the problem. I dont know much about derv engines sorry Sad

Also worked out that my glow plug light does not come on. The light i thought and was told was the glow plug light is in fact the empty fuel warning light which always comes on when you turn the ignition on.

I have a feeling this car is gonna cost me alot of money. I got shot of the Alfa because everything cost so much and now im still there with this car Sad

Its fixed guys :):):)

Turned out to be the Glow plugs relay. Peugeot what £147.89 plus VAT for it so told them where to put it. Nicly i might add Smile Then phoned local Auto factors and they could do it for £58.99. Told them i would phone back. Then phoned the local scrap yard who had one. Went in and he asked a tenner for it. Got home plugged it in and away she fired. Im so happy now.

Big thanks to everyone who has helped. Smile
