I tried again after an hour it was swinging not start checked to see if I was getting gas got the clicking from the relay and gas I put the hose back on tried but then got no clicking no start took it off again ignited clicking no start gas came thru the line tried it a few more times line off and the clicking and the gas stopped I had to change the ecu sometime back it had this problem jus without the start and cut out or anything jus went dead wouldn’t start back after I washed the car I will check the ecu again hope it is not that again but if any one has any ideas I would be glad for your guidance
So I was driving on Monday and my gearbox on my 138 started to make some noise, by the time I got to work (a garage I work for) it stopped going into gear. Therefore I presumed it was the clutch, so I took steps to order the clutch kit, yoke and guide.
I started the car just to make sure everything motor wise was still in order, and it started fine yesterday, but this morning I started and it ran for a few seconds then cut out.
I tried again after an hour it was turning over but would not start. So I checked to see if it was getting gas, got the clicking from the relay and gas coming through, so I put the hose back on tried it again. But then I got no clicking and still wouldn't start, so took I off again and turned the ignition, it was clicking and not starting but gas came through the line. I tried it a few more times with the line off and the clicking and the gas stopped.
I have to change the ecu sometime ago as I had a similar problem when I got water in the ECU due to been a idiot and washing the engine. The Car just went dead and wouldn't start at all.
I hope it isn't the ECU again, and any guidance would be greatly appreciated

The clicking you get as the ignition is switched on is the EGR valve.

Even the title of the thread don't make sense.

Sometimes they are a bit funny after changing the box. Also not sure if the 138 GTI has a flywheel sensor? I changed the clutch on a 1.8 clio and it ran fine for a day then stopped working. Cleaned the sensor and all worked fine
