Hi everyone, i have the squeakiest brakes known to man! Had a recent pad change and everything was fine for about a week but know they squeak and its so bloody annoying! I cleaned my discs the other day and it stopped it for about an hour then it came back Sad Has anyone got any suggestions?

Did you apply cooper slip to the back of the pads when they were changed?

Ah i see! On one of my calipers I have a thin metal plate that goes on after the pad? Only on the drivers side caliper though. And yeah I carefully bedded them in for like 200 miles Smile

I think brakes were designed to squeal just to p@ss drivers off.
Grease the buggers, sand 'em, should quiet down after a while.

you need to brake hard but not overheating the pad when bedding in the pad

Cheap pads are brittle and go shiny. I had this when bought my 206 last year. I live out in the sticks, but at the bottom of a long hill and neighbours could hear me coming half a mile away! Previous owner had pads done for MOT but suspect he used "cheap and cheerfuls" - when we took them off you could almost see your face in them, they were so polished!

Changed to good quality pads, which also have a chamfered leading edge (supposed to prevent vibration which adds to to noise), and not a squeal since!

Delphi are a good brand .. what was Lucas group. I have them on my Alfa 156 and not a problem.

Bedding in of normal pads should be gentle for the first 100 or so miles. (Performance/racing pads are very different and need to be hammered!)

What are the discs like?

The Pug 206CC has Mintex and they have massive chamfers .. no noise though, but I also replaced the discs, as I did with the Alfa (and the 206 HDi, but can't remember the pad make .. Mintex again I think)

I buy my pads and discs from buypartsby.co.uk and never had a problem so far ... will be doing a Clio 1.6 soon and that's where I'll order the parts from again.

that's why most people said oem brake are s*** and squeaky; because they don't know how to bed in pad and disc properly.

most racing pad do not need to be bedded in. Rolling Eyes
