#1: Clutch replaced but still can't select gears Author: sealgaire, Location: asdfgs PostPosted: Tue Aug 02, 2011 4:03 am

Hi,

Car came to a stop last week when I couldn't select any gear. I was able to select gears when the engine was turned off however.

I replace the clutch, pressure plate and release bearing.

Now I still have the exact same problem.

Did i get a new faulty pressure plate?

Any ideas?

1999 1.1 206.

The teeth or springs on the new pressure plate are slightly up on one side.

Hi,

Yea, with the engine off the car will go into gear. But when the engine is running I cannot get the gearstick to select any gear.

Try changing the clutch cable.

does the clutch cable need to be adjusted after the new clutch is fitted? or is it self adjusting?

is there a rachet on the clutch cable that allows it to be tighten up? near where it enters the bulkhead?

No it's all one cable and does it itself Smile

Could be the syncromesh in the gearbox

does the clutch pedal make a clicking kind of noise when pressed? could be the cable then, the springs in the adjuster can mess up and not release. same thing happened to me and it was a new cable job

hi, i fitted the LUK clutch kit and hey presto it works. BUT it isn't right. The release point on the clutch is extremely high and in each gear when i hit about 3000 revs it just revs out beyond that itself but no power. any ideas?

looks like the clutch is not engaging properly

could that be related to the high release point and stiffness on the pedal? cable related?
