got a couple of these on my drivers door but they're right down to the metal, just wondering if i'd be able to mask it off and prime it and spray and polish into the rest of the paint and look like it never happened? i doubt it though lol

the reason its so manky there is because the bump strip is off and i'm colour coding it and thats what was underneath Surprised

gonna get a 206 project up soon, done loads to the car and no pictures to show for it since i've had it.... shame as its come a long way

cheers

Chris

my bad. the pics looks like dent to me.

if no dent then you will just need to sand it down to bare metal, primer then respray

Sweet... Already on bare metal so thats a time saving Very Happy will try and clean it out and sand down the edges of the paint for a smoother thing i suppose... With enough polishing and elbow grease do you think it could look like that wasnt there or will it look dodgy with fresh paint on the old stuff?

Like i said before timon its not dents... The paint has come off down to the metal but no dents... All the arches are like that aswell paint off at the bottoms but no dents... How can you tell its seen a spray job aswell? I am clueless when it comes to that lol... Surely if its been sprayed before it shouldnt be like that?

You need to sand it back to a flat surface within the surrounding area in order to disguise the job, otherwise you'll colour code a patch that's not as thick as the paint work around it. That or filler to bring it back to the same level.

sand it down so you can see the rings of primer, paint and lacquer around it. then dust a little primer over the top and sand that down, then it's paint your basecoat (colour) over the top of it (each time you paint you covering over the edge of the last step), then its lacquer over that and if your not painting right from one edge of the door to the other you then need to use fade out spray so you dont get a lacquer edge.

doors arent easy, there's a reason people do 3 years as apprentises to learnt to paint cars lol..

Lol... How about i just drive the car down to you teebag and do all the chips and peeling paint in one go :p... Na be there all week lol will take your advice onboard but gonna see how well the bump strip comes out then decide if i am even capable of doing this... Will need faded out as the chips are bang in the middle of the door and right next to the handle
