#1: My introduction + questions! (intake filter) Author: tubbe2, Location: Denmark PostPosted: Fri Aug 12, 2011 2:18 am

Hello everyone, my first post here Very Happy

I'm a 20 year old bloke, as you call English lads call it Laughing I'm from the little country known as Denmark, if you know the location - something's rotten Razz I've soon had my car for 1 year, obviously a 206!

Soo about the car, I've got a 206 GTi from 2002 with 130K km on the mileage, slighty started modifying it, all about performance at the moment - ICE and lights will come later.
I was wondering what airfilter/induction kit/cold intake kit would give the best performance? (price doesn't matter)
I've already searched the forums, but I couldn't find anything about the specific ones I'm looking at.

I've been thinking about buying the K&N 57i Gen2, as it looks neat, but on the 206 guide the Typhoon is recommended - can't find much about the Gen2 kit on the forum... So, what performs best, 57i Gen2 or Typhoon?

Also, another option I've looked at, is a cup(?)intake - picture below.

In a sidenote, I got myself a pair of Group N gear rods, Griffiths Quickshift, MTEC Brake Discs front rear dimpled & grooved + Mintex pads and a Janspeed Cat Back Exhaust waiting to be fitted Very Happy Might also include a Stainless steel manifold, just need to know if my friends stepdad (mech) will know how to fit it. Later on a K&W Variant 1 Inox coilover suspension, as it seems to be the best quality, and not too expensive (approx 650£)

P.s. I paid £6118 for my car, had 117K km at that time - prices are soo high here in Denmark, cuz of the 180% registration tax + 25% VAT tax Sad At least my insurance is cheap, as I work for the police and get a business deal at a state insurance company (run by cops) Very Happy

Regards from Denmark!

I had one of those induction kits on my old GTi for a while.

They sound really good, not too over the top. But the fuel economy dropped.

I doubt there were any power gains.

Welcome to 206info. Glad to know I'm not the only person who had to buy an expensive car because of ridiculous prices and taxes.

I've heard about the K&N 57i Gen2 but have never seen anybody with it. I'd say the Typhoon is your better option

It's funny how everyone is more focused about the names Laughing and boss and mush was the only ones I didn't really know btw. Razz

Still didn't buy either of the two, and I guess no one has experience with the cup-intake or the 57i Gen2 either Sad the faster you drive, the more cold air the engine should get on the Gen2 - as the intake is on/under the front bumper Razz it might not show on a dyno though... would love to see a dyno test on the Typhoon and the 57i Gen2....

Might as well end up buying the Gen2, to stand out from the crowd (and also 'cuz it was the cheapest I could find) Razz
Anyone know where I can get the best price on both of them? So far the cheapest I found was on amazon.co.uk for £209
