I have a gti 180 2004 reg with 44,000 miles. Earlier today i was driving down dual carrigeway and its suddenly popped out of 5th gear. I havent had any problems with the gearbox before this and has shown no signs of it being on its way out, it goes into every gear no problem at all and even seems perfectly fine with 5th except it keeps popping out. There is also abit of a 'rattley' sound when i change from 1st to 2nd.
Any ideas as to what can be causing this?
Any help will be much appreciated.

#3: Re: Gearbox problem Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sun Aug 14, 2011 1:51 pm ---- When my GTi was about 14k miles old it had a couple of synchros change which then resulted in the jumping out of fifth when lifting off the throttle. That meant fifth gear needed replacing too.
