#1: Key Question... Author: elted, Location: DublinPosted: Mon Aug 15, 2011 9:07 am ---- Hi all, I just purchased a 2004 206SW 1.4 petrol. I'm very happy with it, but for one thing; It only has the spare key, which is non remote. How would I go about getting one with the remote? Most of the ones on ebay are empty fobs, that you transplant all your bits to.
Could I use a second hand one and just get it reprogrammed?
Thanks in advance.

So I need to get a remote key with the circuit board, and use my transponder that's in my current key?
Then I presume I'll be getting the new circuit board matched with my car somehow?

#6: Re: Key Question... Author: JordGJ, Location: Leeds / West MidlandsPosted: Mon Aug 15, 2011 10:55 am ---- I lost my remote key and am doing the same process as you
- buy a 2nd hand fob
- buy a blank blade
- get the blade cut using you're spare key to copy
- get the fob reprogrammed to you're car
Just today i got my blade cut and put into my new fob, so i can use it manually to open the doors, but now need to get it programmed for my car so it will work as a remote and to start the car...

A remote key from ford for my focus was £194

You're going to need a fresh immobiliser chip and have the car programmed to accept it. You didn't mention it and anyone building up their own remote key will need it.
They are 3 separate and independent security systems
the key blade
the immobiliser chip
the remote central locking
If you want all 3 to work then you'll need all 3

Lee sounds like the man alright. Pity I'm in Ireland
#11: Re: Key Question... Author: ukskater01, Location: sutton surrey/welwyn garden cityPosted: Tue Aug 16, 2011 3:53 am ---- I did the same, I pm'd lee and he sold me the transponder. I got a case with a blank key and got it cut, just need to get it programed now!
#12: Re: Key Question... Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Tue Aug 16, 2011 7:24 am ---- I'm also in Ireland and instead of faffing around trying to source all the bits and pieces for the key and getting it programmed etc., I just saved a few quid a week and then went to Peugeot and got them to make me one. It cost £125 but I don't mind, it was paid for by money I put away every week out of my wages so I hardly missed it. Now I have a spare and a fully working remote original. I hate getting out of the car and not being able to just walk away and press the lock button like I did on my old 306, and now I can (and get in quicker if it's raining too!)
#13: Re: Key Question... Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Aug 16, 2011 7:40 am ---- I alsways thought it was just the imobiliser chip you needed, as my key came from my brothers old car and im using my immobiliser chip and blade, but his key case and transponder.
And if Lee reads this, you were there when we did it

Paddy What Dealer did you use. That was a good price.
#15: Re: Key Question... Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Tue Aug 16, 2011 9:25 am ---- It was the local dealer in Armagh. According to Peugeot.ie, there are 5 dealers in Dublin who do parts and spares, so maybe ring one and ask for a quote?
£125 would be roughly €142 so see if their quotes match up.
