#1: Exhaust popping after timing belt change Author: QuArTz, Location: South CoastPosted: Fri Aug 19, 2011 10:43 am ---- My mates 206 had its timing belt replaced today, on the drive back we noticed that the exhaust was popping when the engine was rev'd in neutral.
Its a 1.4 Petrol and has also had its water pump and coolant replaced.
My C2 has had these parts replaced in the last week and didn't make this sound..
Cant think what's causing it.. Any Idea's??

#3: Re: Exhaust popping after timing belt change Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Fri Aug 19, 2011 10:51 am ---- 8v or 16 valve?
#4: Re: Exhaust popping after timing belt change Author: Deckchair5, Location: Bath UKPosted: Fri Aug 19, 2011 11:34 am ---- Either way, the valve to crank timing has been set up wrongly. Take it back if it's a garage job as it can burn a hole in the valve seats quite quickly
Smack the mechanic around the ear and say "Check your work properly before giving it back to the customer"

How anybody can get the timing wrong on a TU3 is a bit worrying, wonder if it has the correct timing belt fitted
