Sunday 14 August was my 1st time around the track. This is the reason why I bought and enjoy my car. I went in the beginners group as it is not too busy with traffic. Each group gets 15 minutes on the track at a time. I did sessions 1,2 and 4. Session 4 was only 10 minutes and the most fun one of the day.

My 1st few laps I was just testing the track and car. Getting to know race line and brake points. Beginners group is not allowed to out break when entering a corner so it sloweed me down at times as I had to fall in behind the driver in front of me but I still had great fun none the less. The coilovers really make a big difference but the biggest has to be the Powerbrake disks. Only after 3 racing laps do I start to experience a little bit of fade. So it seems good to go for 4 racing laps at a time.

1st session best time of 1:43:89

2nd session times:

Lap1 01:48.28
Lap2 01:43.78
Lap3 01:42.78
Lap4 01:41.35

3rd session times:

Lap1 01:42.38
Lap2 01:41.14
Lap3 01:41.78

This session was the most fun. On my warm up lap I drove very slow so the the Scooby and Focus ST could overtake me as I didn't want to be in their way. Who knew on the next lap they would be in my sights.

The next lap I managed to overtake the Focus ST exiting corner 1. I could have overtaken him underbraking but I stuck with the group rules.

The next lap was tough against the Scooby finally got right behind him on the last turn and managed to accellerate much quicker into the main straight.

Once a month we have an open track day which costs R300 (a bit on the expensive side) and once or twice a month we have Street 2 Strip (1/4 mile drags) which costs R50.

Next track day I will get a passenger to record the whole on board lap.

Just for some interest sake on the track times. I recorded some other cars on that day:

Track prepped 2000 Subaru Impreza WRX STi - 1:24
Mugen Honda (I think it's the K24) - 1:31
Lotus Exige S - 1:33
