Buy a multiplexed 206 GTI then.

NO multiplexed stalks will fit your NON plexed 206 GTI.
Its a totally different electrical system.

Be thankful, there far cheaper & easier to fix when they go wrong
You could always trade up to a multiplexed GTI in the future if you really want those stalks / all the extra standard toys the newer GTI's have.
I think that would be a first, changing cars as you dont like the steering wheel stalks
