#1: New to 206 - Advice Author: BigJiggal, Location: SheffieldPosted: Mon Aug 22, 2011 5:00 pm ---- Just passed my test (18) and looking to get a 206, I've set my heart on it! I'm wanting a 1.1-1.3L, nothing more, otherwise the insurance gets ridiculous - anyone on here selling one or point me in the right direction?
Looking to do a lot of interior and exterior work, got about £6,700 to spend on styling! Any websites you'd recommend?
#2: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: deanparkr, Location: United KingdomPosted: Mon Aug 22, 2011 5:02 pm ---- £7k on styling? or budget for the 206?
#3: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: furryhobnob, Location: NuneatonPosted: Mon Aug 22, 2011 5:03 pm ---- Have a look in the for sale section mate, if you can't go any higher than a 1.3 you'll have to settle for the 1.1 as after that the 206 jumps to 1.4
#4: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: BigJiggal, Location: SheffieldPosted: Mon Aug 22, 2011 5:08 pm ---- £7k on styling but don't wanna spend it all for the sake of it - not looking for anything over the top, just want a debadge, debumpstrip with a smoke finish, lowered just a little with 20 spoke 17"
hope this makes sense ha
#5: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: furryhobnob, Location: NuneatonPosted: Mon Aug 22, 2011 5:12 pm ---- If you've got 7 grand ready to go on styling why not buy a newer better car with a small engine? I wouldn't waste that kind of money on a 206, especially not a 1.1
#6: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: lee206xsi, Location: CheltenhamPosted: Mon Aug 22, 2011 5:14 pm ---- why p**s up 6.7k + on a 206...... no offence, its your choice but you can get a lot of car for that money

Sorry but furrys right, mods will put your insurance up quite a bit too when your 18, if you have that kinda money it makes sense to get a newer car
#9: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: brimbo, Location: South ShieldsPosted: Mon Aug 22, 2011 5:41 pm ---- I would do some quotes before you think of even modding your first car, make sure you can offord the expensive insurance first !
#10: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: JordGJ, Location: Leeds / West MidlandsPosted: Mon Aug 22, 2011 6:10 pm ---- don't buy a 206 with that money... get a better car!

I only joined the site cause i had a 206, not cause i dreamed of owning one
i say get a newer car that will be worth closer to that amount when you sell it, not buying a 4k 206 spending 3k on it and getting 2,8 for it later on.
many cars i would buy for that money other than a 206.
just as an example, depends on budget for car, and insurance, no bother modifying if its newer, plus it saves you lots of money

#15: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Tue Aug 23, 2011 3:30 am ---- how does a 18yr old have all that money. I have a job, am 21 and dont even have enough to insure my pug permanately
Anyway, i wouldnt waste it all on a 1.1 206. Maybe get a nice 1.4, keep it nicely styled to your preference and keep the rest in savings?
#16: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Tue Aug 23, 2011 4:16 am ---- Thats true, rather then spending that on styling, get a 206 with a larger engine and spend it on bigger insurance?, you will benefit from that more. The 1.4 is better then the 1.1
#17: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: TheSandmxn, Location: BirminghamPosted: Tue Aug 23, 2011 4:19 am ---- I agree with the rest, get a newer car and keep it for a solid few years, as I'm 21 in my 2nd yr of driving with 1 NCB and my insurance is 2k TF&T with a few mods, it is not worth wasting all that money on mods for an all-ready-expensive-insurance to get even higher!
#18: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: kurosagi01, Location: NorthamptonPosted: Tue Aug 23, 2011 4:26 am ---- Get yourself a GTI or even an 1.6 XSI and spend rest on insurance lol.
#19: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: copey, Location: rochdalePosted: Tue Aug 23, 2011 4:32 am ---- no point spending so much on your first car, may aswell just drive it for a few years, then spend that money on a better car once you learned how to drive more

& a new MA gearbox
17" on a 1.1, it would be quicker walking which you will be doing when they shag the gearbox
18 & just passed your test, bend over then as your insurance company would like to give you & your wallet a good seeing to
Build your no claims bonus up then buy a better car to ruin
#22: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: Rob2859, Location: HalifaxPosted: Tue Aug 23, 2011 10:51 am ---- Save your money or it will most likely end up in a tree
#23: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: karimali831, Location: EnglandPosted: Tue Aug 23, 2011 11:04 am ---- You wouldn't want a 206 1.1 it is too underpowered and I know from experience, you would find them for sale around £500 and why spend 5x-6x more on styling than the car itself.
#24: Re: New to 206 - Advice Author: THE_GOOCH, Location: bodmin, cornwallPosted: Tue Aug 23, 2011 11:30 am ---- what about buying a 1.1 not spend much on it, keep it for a year then buy and modify a bigger 206 when your insurance is alot cheaper
