#1: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Thu Aug 25, 2011 4:39 pm ---- Earlier today I started the car and it was running lumpy as f*** and antipollution fault came up on the display. Started it again and it was still lumpy so I drove it home and left it a couple of hours.
Took it down to my mate to get the codes read and it was running fine again. The codes that came up were P0011 and P0352.
He cleared them and it ran fine all the way home, about 10 minutes but now it's back and when cleared it immediately returns.
P0011 relates to the camshaft and that's always been there but never caused a problem.
P0352 relates to ignition coil, so i'm thinking new coilpack?

#3: Re: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Thu Aug 25, 2011 5:10 pm ---- I replaced the VVT solenoid less than 6000 miles ago, it threw up a different code then and it's been running fine since. Might take it out this weekend and give it a clean anyway though.
This is something to do with the ignition coil according to the reader.
#4: Re: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: Deckchair5, Location: Bath UKPosted: Fri Aug 26, 2011 12:23 am ---- P0352 Ignition Coil B Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction
Yes, suspect coil pack
P0011 A Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance
That suggests if you've had your cambelt changed that it wasn't installed correctly for crank to camshaft timing

I had the cambelt changed at 49000, it's on 86000 now and never had a problem.
Could the P0352 fault be anything else other than the coil pack? And where's the cheapest place to get one from?
#6: Re: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: EuroPeugeot, Location: SW EnglandPosted: Fri Aug 26, 2011 3:52 am ---- I've had the P0011 fault for quite a while on my car, and I know it's not running 100% fine.
Hopefully just a replace of the VVT solenoid will sort that out, only £50 trade price I'm told. Keep the thread updated, I'll be keen to know fixes your faults
#7: Re: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Fri Aug 26, 2011 5:15 am ---- Coil pack would cause a misfire. Solenoid failure would make it run smoothly but with less power. I imagine a cam sensor failure would do the same.
Could be hydraulic lifters at fault but would that throw up a coil pack error?
#8: Re: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Fri Aug 26, 2011 6:01 am ---- I've read that the coil pack is a common fault with 180s and there's people on Aussie forum who've reported similar symptoms. It's not misfiring though and it was running ok power wise but obviously not now the EML is on.
I would've thought the lifters would've throw up a different code.
#9: Re: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Tue Aug 30, 2011 4:58 pm ---- Anyone know which Pug coilpacks are the same as the 180? I don't mind buying a new one but want to be certain that's what's at fault first.

C4 2.0 16v
C4 Coupe 2.0 16v
307 Hatch / CC /SW 2.0 16v

#12: Re: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Wed Aug 31, 2011 5:54 am ---- no, sorry. Needs to be the 177bhp engine
#13: Re: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Wed Aug 31, 2011 7:42 am ---- Cool i'll try and source one of those then. Cheers mate.
#14: Re: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: sahdra, Location: WarwickshirePosted: Wed Aug 31, 2011 5:26 pm ---- i had this a month ago. i think it had something to do with my service roughly 2 weeks before the problem started. i believe it had something to do with me sticking in some NGK plugs
i replaced with some bosch supers, changed the coilpack, cleaned the VVT solenoid and a few other things i has suspicions about and and after a host or crap ....it worked!!!!
have you just recently serviced? i'm guessing you get this loss of power once the car has heated up a little so seems similar however i had P0351 which is Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction ...in other words the first, most left coil from the rail i am told.
did you get some other info from the code reader? P0352 at a wild guess could be the second coil, have a look/compare the spring under the rubber covers (needs a good yank to pull off) or try swapping plugs around, possibly with the first and see if you get the same code as me.
GODD LUCK!!
#15: Re: Engine running lumpy on idle and EML on Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Thu Sep 01, 2011 3:15 am ---- It does it as soon as it's started, once it's warmed up it's a little better. It's not been serviced recently but did happen after a spell of wet weather. I'll take a look at the plugs and see what they're like.
