#1: Steering Problems Author: 206gti, Location: South LondonPosted: Thu Sep 01, 2011 1:44 am ---- Hi Guys,
I have weird steering issues. The steering has become erratic, its really twitchy, snatches when taking a gradual right bend and just veers off when driving in a straight line. I had the tracking done and have replaced the front two tyres and alloys (I know, I'm a muppet), but its made no difference. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Jack.

Could be steering rack imminent failure, power steering pump, anybody's guess but it's no good guessing, you need to have it looked at by someone who knows what they're looking for

#8: Re: Steering Problems Author: KrisB, Location: RH5 - Near gatwickPosted: Wed Mar 13, 2013 4:50 pm ---- Sounds like worn wishbone bushes / balljoint. Time for new wishbones. Cheap ones dont cut it either, they'll last 5 mins.
To the OP, in london. I can do this for you. Supply quality wishbones (MEYLE HD) at a very reasonable price and fit. PM me
#9: Re: Steering Problems Author: KrisB, Location: RH5 - Near gatwickPosted: Wed Mar 13, 2013 4:53 pm ---- Ps, easy way to check wishbones is to try rotating the wheel (moving it forward and backwards, the way it usually goes) but with the handbrake on. See if it moves forward or back much more than a few MM within the cars arch which isnt moving..
Otherwise, get a trolley jack, and axle stand. Get the wheels off the ground and have a play pushing the wheels about in all sorts of directions.
