#1: Nightmare Author: Tam80, Location: Dundee/MotherwellPosted: Thu Sep 01, 2011 4:04 pm ---- what a ******* brutal past few days i have had..had ma 206 in for M.O.T last thursday and still at it...
today i got another garage to check my emissions rather than go back to the garage that doin the M.O.T
still the same...guy said looks like its the lambda thats goosed..headed to local factors to buy a lambda and said to another customer that was waiting to be served..you know anything about emissions..he said aye gimme a look..he seemed to think that as it was the lambda that it was more than likely a hole/holes in exhaust...so decided against buying a lambda sensor and decided to head hame and get it up in the air and check the whole exhaust...the a-hole that had the car before me had tried to make it a straight through except for the back box...there was 3 bits of pipe just clamped up to go under the rear axle..was blowing from them all...now heres the belter...he had welded the middle pipe to the cat lol...
and that was blowing as well
so i headed back up to factors and bought the middle pipe...priced cat just incase...75 quid guy said...headed back home and got started..back box off...then attacked the half arsed welding of the cat...just chopped it off..this was my mistake as i should have just taken the down pipe off which i had eventually had to do anyways...was at it for a good 3 hours just getting the 6 inches of pipe from the cat and tidying it up...what a mess it was
made a booboo in putting the downpipe clamp/bolt on wrong way round...nut facing upwards...anyways gonna have to remove it and replace the nearly rounded nut tomorrow...exhaust sounds loads better likes
apart from it hitting i think its rear axle somewheres...can see me having to buy the cat as well because he had chopped off a bit off the pipe at the cat...musta noticed this was too long after he joeyed up the middle bit because the straps on the back box were right to full length and it just met the cat
fingers crossed i should have an M.O.T tomorrow

i had a similar probably with my gti exhaust, centre was chopped out and replaced with a crap racing tube which was welded to the cat (no joins) had to chop it behind the cat and made a powerflow cat back myself. sounds alot better sounded like a tractor before.
good look with the mot

Don't seem right some how but it's passed so I don't care,
