My daughters 2005 1.1 cut out on her last night and wont re-start..
I towed her home and tried again this monring.. no change
It's weird to describe..
The engine does'not actually turn over.. e.g there is no noticable judder from the engine block.. bur the starter is whirring away and the aux belts are turning freely..
No smell of petrol either.. (pump not priming)
My fault reader .. found P1336.. Cleared this .. no change/still wont start; re-read and code has not came back..
I have disconnected the battery for a short while.. and will re-connect after this post..
any ideas

More than likely, if it ain't out of fuel to be an electrical fault.
Edit- (after reading above post) cambelt would be catastrophic, lol.

Just removed the cover and no movement on the cam when the auxbelts are turning (ignition on)
Just spoke with my daughter,, she also tells me she could hear a whinning nose from the engine over the last week .. suspect this was the belt tensioner..
she advises that car has started with no issues (missfires inthat time) and also tells me the the car came to a smooth stop when the car cut-out.. no judder or vibration felt in the car .... I hope this means no valve damage..
What are the chances of engine damage if she stopped within seconds of the car cutting out..??

Done a few cambelts in my time.. none on the 1.1 206 though.. what time is involved?

It's an interference engine. Engine is going around at minimum 800rpm and camshaft suddenly stops. The pistons smash and bend any valves out of the way in less than a second. It's not nice

If the belt has snapped then its normally cheaper to throw another lump in then trying to rebuild the damaged head.

Yes, that's the first step as you want to check for any piston damage too although usually it's only superficial as the valves dangling there are no match for a rising piston
It would only take one inlet valve (they're the softest) to be not seating properly and the exhaust gases will soon blow a hole in it so it's not really worth throwing on a new cambelt and tensioner and just hoping for the best
