#1: 1.4 HDi Gearbox ratio? Author: adsayer, Location: NorthallertonPosted: Sun Sep 04, 2011 2:15 pm ---- Hello all,
I'm going to be removing the clusters and gubbins from a 1.4 hdi gearbox and re-casing them. I understand the 1.4 HDi box is the MA5 which is handy as I've got a few lying around at Sayer Towers.
Looking at the rpm vs speed and the rpm drops between gears it's not a cluster set that I reCOGnise (pun). From the MA5's that I know of you've got the 'sports' cluster (from 1st to 4th) and a 'base' cluster, with a variation in F/D's to suit a particular engine.
I'm having trouble locating the ratio's for this particular gearbox. If anyone can provide the details (and the final drive ratio too) I'd highly appreciate it.
As the pesky french have a habit of altering things without much reason why, I could do with confirming the gearbox is still cable operated for the clutch.
Cheerzzzzzz

will need the gearbox code to confirm the ratio but for 1.4HDi
it could be:
1st: 12x41 or 11x40
2nd: 21x38 or 20x39
3rd: 29x34, 30x41, 29x37, 32x41, 28x38
4th: 40x39, 37x39, 41x35
5th: 43x33, 41x35, 47x32
final drive 17x64
diesel gearbox ratio are totally different compare to the petrol box ratio.
