#1: Evrything cuts out when I turn the ignition! Author: Gaz360, Location: LouthPosted: Tue Sep 20, 2011 6:48 am ---- Gota a great problem to sort out now! I got in my car yesterday and turned the ignition. All the dash lights and ignition came on as normal.
However when i tryed to turn the engine on, EVRYTHING just cut out and just stopped working. The only time the ignition came back on was when i lifted the bonnet and put it back down again. When the ignition did finally come back on again, it just did the same thing again.
I did get it going again after lookin through the fuses, i.e taking them out, checkin and puting back in. However it started a few times an did the same thing again. There must be some logic to why its doing this. engine immobiliser or something

does the starter struggle to start the engine the times it does start, or click / make any noise when its playing up at all?
immobliser still lets the engine spin just not fire.

#4: Re: Evrything cuts out when I turn the ignition! Author: Gaz360, Location: LouthPosted: Tue Sep 20, 2011 7:38 am ---- Its a 206 gti on v plate. When it trys to start, it starts fine evrytime. Its just not even attempting to start, an then cuts evrythjing off. ignition comes on, i turn it to start the engine and then evrything cuts off completely. yeh will check battery mate. sounds like it could be that.

#9: Re: Evrything cuts out when I turn the ignition! Author: oldskoolz, Location: LondonPosted: Wed Sep 21, 2011 8:21 am ---- mine did this aswell, check the connections on the battery terminals. if you think about it when you shut the bonnet it must be jogging the connection together enough to maintain a minimal connection but not enough to transfer enough current to start the car
