#1: extraordinarily high fuel consumption on cold.. Author: bisphenol-a, Location: AntarcticaPosted: Wed Sep 21, 2011 8:30 am ---- Was paying attention to the dash computer when I was going on low gear and I was getting 20litres per 100km and I was only stepping enough to move. Not heavy on the pedal no fast & furious action, just trying to get out of the car park.
Gti180. Is this even normal? I get 20litres/100km when I do very spirited acceleration from stationary in my previous 138. What should I be looking at? Fuel injectors? Spark plugs? Lambda sensors? Etc?
I'm on stock

Author: kit325, Location: LondonPosted: Thu Sep 22, 2011 3:16 am ---- Unless u decide to stuck on low gear on driving on normal road as well, otherwise is normal. Is commmon sense that higher rev on engine higher fuel comsuption is gonna be. Ie, 2000rev on 1st gear will just give u the speed of 10mph (cover less distance) while on 4th gear will be 35mph (cover more distance so more mpg).
MPG on car is calculated based on average driving. Best way to calculate your mpg is to have a full tank, reset your trip meter, then drive for a week. After that fill up again to full tank. U should have millage on trip meter and how many liter fuel u put in at that time in the petrol station. That should give u accurate calculation on your mpg.
