If you just want the V and the lion, just get a tiny flat head screwdriver and pry them off. Be very careful around the lions tail as this snaps very easily (it happened to mine) but you can just glue it back together and you cant see the break after its been painted.

Also, get some superglue incase you break any of the clips on the back of the lion.... i broke a lot of bits when i did mine last time
