Oil leakage problem
-> 206 Problems

#1: Oil leakage problem Author: hamed206, Location: Egypt PostPosted: Mon Sep 26, 2011 10:39 am

Hello,

My 206 is quite old, it has been with me for 11 yrs, done 250K miles, now it's consuming oil, I have to add 1-2 litre during the 6K miles (oil age) or every 6 months (I change oil twice per yr)....what do check first before judge the internal engine components like piston rings,....etc.

I'm still not sure if this is an external or internal leakage, but the car has done lots of miles.

For consideration, I have replaced the head gasket 1 yr ago without skimming the cyl head, and my mechanic told me that it needs skimming, is this has a relation to my problem?

Thank you.

if it is external leakage you would have a pool of oil on the drive way i guess......

2L every 5K is a lot.

all depends on how much you like the car and how long you want to keep it really.
if your wanting to keep it for a few more yrs the i would have thought it was due a full rebuild or at least a strip down with new rings and shells with a good check over the rest of parts.

check the tarmac where u park your car for any sign of oil leakage. If there's oil on the ground when u park overnight, will be things like sump plug seal, sump seal or the top cover rubber seal.

If the car consuming that lot of oil, i doubt u will pass your emission test.
