Seem to have developed an issue with my 180 that when driving and the steering wheel straight the car is pulling me towards the left and the power steering is feeling weak and is fighting agaist it, now my first thought's would be that i've slammed it into the kurb because that how it feels and drives but i know for a fact that's not happen at all t any point.
Any thoughts or ideas where to start?
i''ve looked under the car and it all seems fine but with out getting it on a ramp i can't be 100% sure, just so horrible to drive at the moment

Author: devotedsniper, Location: Tamworth, StaffordshirePosted: Wed Sep 28, 2011 5:33 am ---- If it all looks like fine (i take it you jacked the car up to look underneath?), then it's most likely the trackings out, how bad is it pulling to one side? You can get the tracking done at almost any garage for around £30.
*EDIT* if you take it to a garage they will most likely put it up on there ramps to make sure it is the tracking and not something else.

I had both replaced on mine and it sorted the problem. (Was mainly the driveshaft). Does it do it or the time, or only when you put your foot down?

Yeah i've had it up on a jack and everythig seems ok, but now you mentioned it, it does pull hell of a lot to the left when i put my footdown and then i'm fight the wheel to keep it straight.
i got a feeling it's the driveshaft or maybe that area, i checked the last M.O.T paper work and there had advise that the drivers track rod end had play in it.

Checked all tyres and there are all fine and as far as i know the brakes are all good. i mean they stop on a six spence and the wheel is run free. i took the Esp off and span the wheels up as well and did an emergancy stop as well and that was all good - running out of ideas and things to check.

I bought two new wishbones, but the real problem was the o/s driveshaft, so check it all.

Technically you cant track up a GTI 180 or other 206 with ESP fitted correctly without Peugeot Planet.

got anything thats weighting the car down on the left, although 180 suspension is reasonably stiff i doubt that would make a difference...
check your springs to see if they've snapped anywhere? in my old 1.4 8v the left spring snapped...although i did air it a few times...worth a look..

Test it for yourself...try driving along at a lowish speed then watch the steering wheel turn as you apply the accelerator..the more you accelerate the worse the torque steer is...oh and it varies from car to car...some not so much torque steer some are even dangerous theyre so bad.

Torque-steer has been mentioned in other 'pulling' threads but usually is not the cause of the complaint - on the 206.
As you say, other very high-powered cars have so much torque-steer you have to watch out unless there is electronic system to take care of it. However the direction of 'drift' then changes according to road surface, steering-wheel position, road camber etc, it's not fixed 'to the left' as in this case, and not apparent unless you are accelerating sharply.
